FEEDBACKS - PART 5
July 9, 2006
"Having taken care of
my parents and in-laws, all gone now, then working as a caregiver for
other elderly people; having visited nursing homes, and hospitals, I
saw the need to write something to my children, to be opened in my
final years. I consistently put it off, and then tonight I received
Parents' Wish via email from a friend. You have saved me the trouble
of composing my own letter. I will close now and send the email to
each of my adult children. Thank you, Jo Ann"
"The 'subject'
says it all. A relative emailed the 'movie' to me and I cried
it touched me so. I've now tried to E=Mail it to a friend (I'm just
learning)."
"I received the
Parents' Wish presentation today and have thought of nothing else
since reading it. Tears came immediately and the emotions stirred the
memories of my beloved parents. I lost them both recently, one to
cancer and the other Alzheimer's Disease. Thank you for such a moving
piece."
"What an awesome
thing you have done. Tears were running down my face as I read and
listened. I know that the day will come that one of my parents
will pass away and at that time it would be impossible for the other
to be left alone and I am fully prepared to take the surviving parent
into my home and take care of them as they have been the best parent's
any child could hope to have. Thanks for a job well done and an
insight into what children with elderly parents should do and what
they should know about how it is to be elderly. Carolyn
"I just lost my
father in-law on July 3rd. I was his care taker. Even though the last
six weeks where really hard I would not change any thing I did or say.
We became closer in his finial weeks then the past 20 that I have
known him. My husband and I were with him when he passed. He went
peacefully. Parents' Wish is just what I needed. It is very true and
beautiful."
"It is so beautiful
and so very true. It touched my heart. I began working with the
elderly at the age of 14 in a nursing home. My passion began then. I
am now a case manager and outreach specialist working with our elderly
community."
"This was absolutely
beautiful. Definitely something for people to think about when they
interact with older people. I will pass this on to my friends and
family and hopefully they will enjoy it as much as I did."
"It is my experience
that parents who have been as good and loving as those portrayed in
your show do not have to remind their children of all of the things
they did for them. It is manipulative to throw in your children’s
faces that you did your job – you were a good parent – to get them to
do something for you. I can tell you unequivocally that I am well
aware of all that my parents have done for me and would walk through
fire for them. They have never needed to say a word. The thought is
lovely and the message is correct, but I would be INFURIATED if my
parent sent this to me!!"
"Recently I lost a
close dear friend of mine. This guy took me into his heart and helped
me so much after the loss of my father in 86. I am going to try and
find a way to get this played at his funeral on Friday cause
everything in this was the man that I knew. Thank you again and please
keep the great sites going like this one."
"I cried the whole
time watching this. It hits my heart because my parents are moving out
of their home after 51 years because of health. God love the person or
persons that put this together at this time. Pat, Evansville, IN"
"It made me cry, I am
going through most of what is here right now with my mother, it causes
me a lot of pain in my heart BUT I have added it to 'my favorites'
as it is a help to remember when times get hard what she is going
through. My mother is a 'born again Christian' so I KNOW what
the end results are and I praise GOD for His love through Christ
Jesus."
"I am deeply in awe
of this video! Through my tears, I have read it twice. I lost my Dad
when I was 19 and my Mom later in life @ 45. How I wish I could've
seen this Video prior to their passing, as it would've changed my
childish outlook. I have problems with my children, and hope that they
will not only open this tremendous video, read the words, listen to
Josh's wonderful song, but open their hearts again. You have done a
wonderful job and the work is simply beautiful. It is absolutely true
and heartfelt!"
"WOW!!!! I can not
stop crying, how true, how true to the heart. All that was said is how
I believe my mom and dad saw growing old. It obviously is not fun
getting old, when your physical capabilities go and if your mind goes.
All I can say from experience is to be patience. They raised us we
should have it in our heart to do the same when the time comes. I feel
I had some patience but there is always room to improve. Show them you
care!!!! from St Louis Lou Ballard"
"WOW!!!! I have cried
and cried. My parents are aging and I see so much truth from your
slideshow. It was so awesome. I sent it to my parents with the
attachment that I prayed I would be the daughter who could let them go
when the time came. My parents are my best friends and I NEVER want to
be without them. It is so hard to let go of those we love so
completely. I am so thankful they gave me the life they did and that
this video so portrays it. I hope I can give it back to them as
wonderfully as they gave it.--- SD in AL
"Just want you to
know how much I appreciated your 'movie'. Was very sad for me
because my children don't and won't have anything to do with me. So I
understand the thought behind it. So many thanks for the thought of
it. Kind regards Bruce B"
"It is the most
touching email I've ever received. Along with my mother and other
elderly relatives the Parents' Wish hits close to home. Not too
mention becoming one myself someday. God bless and thank you to all
that put forth the effort in putting this site together in order to
share with others."
"This was a beautiful
video. I have never seen anything like it. If you have anymore like
this I would like to hear about them."
"That was beautiful.
It made me cry. There was so much truth in the message and Josh
singing made it more special."
"This brought me to
tears. My Mother was my best friend and constant companion. Caring for
her was the most difficult but most rewarding thing I've ever done, or
will ever do, in my life. Mom came out of a coma the day before she
died and we watched her favorite movie together, Fried Green Tomatoes,
about a young girl dying of cancer. At the end of the movie they all
celebrate her life. Which I think was my Mother's point... don't cry
for me, celebrate who I was and will always be in your heart!"
"Very well done.
Thanks for the effort that went into preparing it. And the music was
perfect. Thanks again for the effort."
"I just viewed this
ever so touching tribute, and forwarded it on to others. I was truly
touched, due to the loss of my dad to lung cancer and mother to
Alzheimer's. The words to this are very familiar, for I have
experienced this. Also I am losing my ability to walk and use a
wheelchair. So the words to this reach into my everyday life."
"Awesome I am going
through a heartfelt experience with my mother. I watch this almost
daily to get through the day. I send this to many individuals who are
also experiencing sadness with the parents. May god bless you for
making our lives enriched. Joe"
"I love your movie.
It reminded me so much of my grandmother. She died; we were very
close. Thank you so much! Jeff"
"My daughter sent
this to me today. I just hope and Pray when I get older these will be
her thoughts. I wish every child with a sick or elderly parent would
have a chance to read this. I am a caregiver, and I have seen both
sides where the children understand the parents and then where they
don't have a clue. The children get very upset with the parents for
getting old or getting sick. I thank God for giving me a heart to care
for these people, for I will be old one day. That was a beautiful
piece."
"This site is
absolutely awesome! I am 54 and have lost both of my parents. There is
a time in our lives that we become the parent, and the parent becomes
the child. It does take a lot of patience at times, but I do remember
what they sacrificed for me. They both died with dignity, and I hope
that I made them proud! Youth just cannot grasp this concept, but if
they see this, I believe they will. They need to be ready as much as
they can be because we do not know when we will be the parent!"
"I was moved to the
depths of my soul. What a gift you've all given the world. Thank you."
"Undoubtedly, this
has got to be the very best e-mail I have ever received. Thanks to all
who put this together."
"I am a caregiver for
a 100 year old aunt. I am sooo tired. You just gave me a month
vacation through this video. Thx may God bless you and your work."
"This is so
beautiful. Thanks!"
"Beautiful!! I ended
up not only thinking about the content but crying and sending it to my
three grown children--saying that I sort of felt that I was getting
pretty close to some of them except the one about 'Do not make me
eat'--(ha ha ha)--anyway---great job which many will benefit from
immensely."
"I just lost my 94
year old Mother on June 3rd, 2006. She lived in our home for 1 1/2
years prior to going into a nursing home for a year. We lived every
one of these steps with her. I do not hear a 'right to die'
message here. I hear a parent like my Mother wanting to go 'home'
where she will be whole and more alive than ever for eternity. When
angry and sometimes ugly words come from their mouths, we need to
remember, this is not the parents' heart speaking but a tired and
ailing mind."
"Not enough words to
adequately express how much this meant to me. My parents are getting
older and as I sat (choked up) watching and listening to this, it
really hit home. My own children have nothing to do with me so I will
not experience this as I grow older. I hope all adults out there have
loving children. It means the world. Vickie"
"It is my pleasure to
know and feel that a message send to me which I send to all my friends
and love ones will spread like this. What a such wonderful feeling now
people give important to the old ones especially to their aged
parents. But how I wish I knew and see this when my father was still
alive. Anyway wherever he is, I know he will feel how great he is and
thank you you dad for all the wonderful memories you gave. From Elsie
of Dubai dedicated this to my love ones."
"Another excellent
site, congratulations upon it. I wish that all children and teenagers
throughout the world could see this site and contemplate upon it for
just a short while, maybe then their own lives may be just that little
bit less stressed and their own relationships more meaningful. Peter
Stickland, Perth. Western Australia."
"I don't know what to
say but it is 'GREAT. I can't stop my tears dwelling in my face.
Before I realized what did my parents do for us just to live this
wonderful earth but seeing this makes me more understand and love my
parents. Sad to say my dad passed away never say I love him
always/forever and thank you for what he did. But I know he is
listening to me. Papa I love you and thank you so much. Hoping many
could read and view this so that they will be enlightened and touched
with this video. This is great. I played it many times."
July 8, 2006
"I wept all the way
through it. My parents are 86, my mom has Alzheimer's and my dad is
quite deaf and losing his eyesight. Sometimes I fight for patience -
thank you for sharing this, it will help me to do so. Carole"
"I can say in all
honesty that when I read the Parents' Wish I truly did all the right
things. My Mom repeated herself, couldn't remember what she was
saying, couldn't do things for herself, and felt her independence
completely slip away. I would listen to her over and over, tell her I
couldn't remember what I was saying a lot of times, and that people
should do things for her, she deserved to be catered to, and I would
tell her what was going on and ask for her opinions on different
things to let her feel that she was still a part of decisions that
were being made for her. It made my heart feel wonderful. Our parents
need to be treated with the love and respect they deserve. Marie from
Lynbrook, NY"
"This was wonderful!
We all wish we could have done a little better by our parents and
grandparents. But really I have few regrets as I truly loved my
parents and grandparents. I sent this to my six daughters. I hope it
effects them as it has me. I loved it. Thanks so much. Billie Garrett,
Texas"
"I recently removed
my mom from the nursing home to come home with me. Many family members
wanted her to stay there; 'a better place than home' , but I
could not stand to have her there isolated from the world and
constantly asking to go home. With her diminishing mind she still
knows what is going on around her and is improving since she came to
live with us. Her time is short but our family will gain much with her
remaining days. Your video hit like a ton of bricks and all my
siblings will receive it."
"I am writing from
Council Bluffs, Iowa. Just a short note to tell you that I do
volunteer hospice work and was very touched by a Parents' Wish. There
are so many that need to see this message! Beautiful. Truly!"
"All I can say is
WOW. And thank you. Having been in geriatric nursing for almost 18
years, this movie really touched me. I am passing the site on to the
staff development coordinator at our facility as it is good to remind
us every so often that our patients are someone's parents and deserve
the utmost respect and dignity as they end things as they see fit.
Everyone has different needs, may I always remember to see the person
who was and not just look at where we are today."
"This is one of the
most beautiful things I have every watched."
"I am full as I type
this. I can't stop the tears. My parents are in their late 80s and 90s
and they are struggling with health problems and I haven't been as
kind as I should have been. I plan to do better as of today. My wife
and I are grandparents and in our late 60s and early 70s. We're
heading towards what my parents are barely coping with. Whoever put
this together- a HUGE thank you. It was much better than most sermons
I've heard!"
"In a few words --
wonderful. This says it all and with Josh Groban's beautiful song, no
other words are necessary. Thank you for lifting me up today. Lee
Hixon"
"It was so real to me
as I just lost my Mother Jan. 24, 2006 at the age of 93. She had been
at the nursing home for a year, after a long illness (cancer). Thank
you so much. I cried all the way thru the slideshow, sent it to my
children. I am 71. God Bless you !!
"I want to thank you
for that touching letter. Everything that was said was so very true. I
picture my dear mother and father in law as I am reading the letter
and I had tears in my eyes. I love them so very much and they are
wonderful people. Thank You. Esther Zorzi"
"I think everyone
else has expressed all the feelings one might have while watching this
magnificent, moving film. I'm taking care of my 89 year old Dad who
now has colon cancer and is a warm loving person and I cried through
the whole thing and I've been crying ever since and thanking God that
I am understanding all that is happening to him and his feelings and
all that he is going through. Thank you for putting it into words,
pictures and Josh Groban's song. Terrie Murphy"
"This is a beautiful
tribute to the parents you had in mind. I also have a beautiful set of
parents, my father died 34 years at a young age, however, mother is
living at age 91.5 years. She is precious to me and I can identify
with the message very well and truly I can live by it as well. Thank
you so very, very much for sharing this beautiful message and music
with me!"
"I watched your video
and I wanted to thank you so much for it. I grew up with my
grandmother living with my parents. When she developed dementia the
easy thing would have to put her in a nursing home but my dad and mom
would not. They cared for her at home. They sat with her and allowed
her to die at home with dignity and love. My parents told me they
would not place this burden on their children. After watching my
parents I do not consider it a burden I consider it an honor. Watching
your video reminded me of how much we owe to our parents. I feel sorry
for people who believe taking care of their parents is a punishment."
"I find this piece to
be the most beautiful I have ever read along with the words and music.
It is truly heart opening and full of compassion. This says it all. It
made my heart full of joy and love above sadness and touched my being
with peace. The people involved with this piece are truly blessed with
heart. May you continue to share your compassion and peace with the
world. Marjorie from Florida"
"Very beautiful- many
of us have taken care of our parents as long as we were able. When the
time comes that we are physically unable to do it- don't feel guilty
for admitting them to a nursing home. I am a retired nurse- so I know
what it is to take care of the infirm and elderly. Its true that a lot
of people can't be bothered with their elderly loved ones- and they
are the losers. I will save this to re-play often- besides, Josh
Groban is my favorite. From a 77 yr old granny"
"This is awesome
thanks for sharing it with me."
"The Parents' Wish is
just beautiful. When I got it from a friend I sat and listened to it
then email it to our children and family members because it's the
greatest . Thanks, KM"
"This was the most
beautiful video. It has quite a message. Thank you for sharing your
talent. Mother of four who lost her own beloved dad in October 1990
now my children are older 29-28-27-22 and I would give anything for
them to have had more time with their grandfather."
"This was the most
beautiful thing that I have ever seen. My son sang this song at
college and got a standing ovation for performing it. He looks so much
like Josh and truly loves singing this song."
"Awesome - just
awesome. I, too, would like to send this to my grown daughters, but
the Mom and Dad would be too painful since my late husband sexually
abused one of my daughters and we do not ever speak of him. Please let
me know when you have a copy for a single parent. It's so beautiful
and so true. I want my Mom to have a copy as well."
"I am usually very
cynical about a great deal of the stuff that is sent to me on the
internet but this...well, as I was reading this I started crying, and
I do mean really crying! I just lost my Dad last year to old age. The
Lord gave me the courage to just sit with him, hold his hand, rub his
arm and well, just plain talk. It was so awesome. It started me think
of age, death, and many old things. I believe that this reminds us
that older people are those with feeling also. Maybe our bodies don't
always cooperate but our mind in general still young. It is
beautiful."
"I was deeply touched
by this presentation, even though much of the writing was grayed-out.
I look forward to being able to see the slide show whether on the
computer or otherwise."
"What a blessing!
Thanks, Mother of five, Christian school teacher in Del. Missouri,
Texas and Concordville, Pa. Church bus captain, Sunday school teacher
and serving the Lord... receptionist for Lockheed Martin (MSOC)
Mission contract for Nasa. Really a door keeper for the Lord!
"This is beautiful!
It made me cry, but it was a good cry. Every child needs to see this!
It's very inspiring! Very true, and most of all Very REAL!"
"This is one of the
most beautiful Power Points I’ve seen in a long time. There is also
another one going around, with the same message, but different
pictures. Both are very beautiful. Thanks for the great work you did
on this Power Point to enjoy with the e-mail families all over the
world. Special Thanks to your wife and children, for allowing you to
work on this, so many families can enjoy. Cheryl C. Cavalier,
Larose, Louisiana"
"My mother and I
cared for my father for 27 years, he passed at 95 years old. I miss
him dearly and I prayed him back from countless near death
experiences. He suffered much too long because of my selfish needs. My
mom is now 82 and going thru the same stage of life. I don't want to
make the same mistakes with her. But I can't seem to make her happy.
It hurts very much. Your work came just at the right time. Some of the
items I forget to do, thank you for the gentle reminders. I am sure
this will help!"
"This is the most
guilt trip ridden website I have ever had sent to me. "If you are a
giver, you don't ask for anything in return. I am a parent. And I
became a parent when I was ready to love and to give unselfishly. The
message of this website is not only odd; it's selfish. No one with
real parenting instincts would ever send this to their child."
July 7, 2006
"I just watch the
Parents' Wish video and cried through the whole thing. The words are
so perfect and touched my heart. Josh Groban is such a special man and
has the voice of an Angel. My mother died at the age of 88 and I
experienced many of those feelings expressed in this video, while
caring for my mom. This brought back many memories and smiles for me.
Thank you for such a beautiful tribute."
"Thank you for taking
the time to put words, music and photos together to help us understand
and have peace with life."
"This is wonderful
tribute. My husband recently passed away and this song will be for
him. Keep up the good work."
"I just have to say
it brought tears to me eyes. I work as a home health aide. I wish I
could send this to all of my patients families how have forgotten them
or treat them like they are the kids themselves. Thanks for making
such a wonderful page. I hope it helps to awake a lot of people in
this world."
"I am both parent and
child, sometimes thinking I’m the bologna in the middle of the
sandwich (generation). Your slideshow brought a tear to my eyes. Ok,
several tears. I saw it from both from the parent’s perspective and
the child’s. Again, thank you! This is a wonderful slide show."
"What a phenomenal
tribute to parenting and an astonishingly real life understanding of
what both the elder persons go through AND the responsive feelings and
thoughts of the next generation or two to those older people they love
and cherish. My heart aches sometimes when I think of how hard WE
tried to understand and love my husband's mom (and she us) as she grew
older and more dependent on us. God bless you and all those you
mentioned were responsible for this heart wrenching and heartwarming
look into a real 'reality show'. It was beautifully done with
perfect music to complete the wishes!"
"Parents' Wish really
moved me. I felt that lump in my throat. I am a nurse working with
elderly and these slides are so true and real. They remind me to be
patient with my patients. It also made me more appreciative of my
mother who is still alive. This wonderful woman I love so dearly.
Wilhelmine Adrien Dominica"
"An absolutely
beautiful piece. The few who viewed it as a 'guilt trip', they
most of all, have not received the message. Dick, Iowa"
"Thank you, what a
wonderful treat to have read the Parents' Wish. Hope all children read
this, someday they too will be in the same place. Vicky Benedon"
"I have seen so many
emails sent by friends, but this is the most beautiful and moving
email that I have ever received. Thank you so much."
"It really touch my
heart, I was in tears. This should be read by each and every son and
daughter in the world. I wish it could happen? Mark NZ"
"I have never seen
anything as inspiring and touching as your Parents' Wish video. it
serves as a constant reminder that we have so little time and
opportunity to thank our parents for everything they did for us while
we were growing up. We can never repay them well enough."
"It was fine until it
got to the part where it said something about wanting to die and end
life in dignity. It sounded to me like asking and/or giving permission
for euthanasia."
"I enjoyed listening
to Mariah Carey much more because her tight dress made my grandpa so
happy. If only he hadn’t had that heart attack when we discussed her
attributes. Still I know that he died happy. Thank you for reminding
me."
"I am a senior who
has been touched to the max by this. I'm nearing many of the stages in
this beautiful piece. And how true those feelings are. As I sat with
tears running, I sent it off to my children in an attempt to let them
know what it's like for us and to please understand. The song 'You
Raise Me Up' was just too perfect for the whole piece. Thank you
for realizing we are still viable human beings with feelings and for
doing such a wonderful job. It's too beautiful for words. Ruth Fisher"
"This was beautiful
and heartfelt. My father sent it to me, (Mom has Alzheimer's). I am a
nurse in a long term nursing facility, and I deal with this each and
every day. I have forwarded this to everyone I know. It will be saved,
and viewed many times. Thank You, Kathi Petti"
"It did amazing
things for my heart and attitude. Being an only child puts a
tremendous amount of strain on your own life as well as those around
you, but this video made me really stop and realize the strain my
parents go through every day. They are truly as dependent on me now as
an adult, as I was of them when I was a child. It seems only fitting
that as their child, I am able to give back some of the love and
guidance they spent their life giving me. Thank you for a beautiful
video. SK"
"What a wonderful
tribute to our 'heroes', our parents. It takes becoming a
parent yourself to truly appreciate all they do for us, each and every
day, no matter our age. Thank you for sharing with the world. What a
beautiful song to go along with it. So meaningful. The world needs
more of things just like this. Thank you, thank you. Debbie"
"This is so
beautiful. But will need to wait for the single parent version, in
order to send it to my kids. Again beautiful and very touching."
"Both my parents are
ill. My Mother is in a nursing home and she has said the same things
to me. People use to ask me 'Why' I didn't put her in a home
sooner. I kept my promise to her, that I would not put her in a home
until I couldn't care for her anymore. I worked in a nursing home for
21 years and I have been asked many, many times 'Please, just let
me die'. this is the best thing I've come across in years. Thank
you so much for making it available."
"I have had the
privilege of caring for both of my aging parents in their last days.
It was an honor. Often I felt I could not live through another day of
it but I wish I could go back there today. We had many precious
moments together, I only wish I could have more. I hope that someday
my children will love me the way I love my parents. I hope they
learned the lesson of love that was displayed before them."
"As both a parent and
a grand parent, this was so very moving. Thank you and God Bless You"
"Thanks you so much
for sharing Parents Wish with all of us! My hubby and I both have
aging parents and it provided us with a much different way of looking
at things. You have enriched our lives more than you will every know."
"This was sent to mew
by my sister and God bless you. It's the most beautiful thing I've
ever seen. Keep up the wonderful work."
"For sure grab the
tissues. I just lost my Mom 4 weeks ago and I feel she was sending me
a message. I sat for 4 days to watch her die. I held her hand to the
very last minute. OH MOM I MISS YOU SO SO BAD. This says all that I
have been threw in the past few years. It is truly how I felt about my
mom. I was there for her as she was when I was little. Thanks so much.
I hope the rest of my family listens to this. Mom until we meet again.
My heart is with you."
"I was sent this
wonderful video by a friend and sat watching it with tears streaming
down my face. Our Mum has had Senile Dementia for many years now and
it just seemed to put into words what she is feeling but can not
express. Thank you, so much, it was wonderful. Pat in England"
"I love this video!
It really makes me sad and that is my biggest fear. I don't want to be
old but everybody is going there! I hope my daughter or my son will
take care of me. Good video!"
"I'm the
Administrator of a small Retirement Community. Several of my resident
have seen it and would love to see it as a group. Thank you for
producing such a beautiful message. As my staff and I watched it we
pointed out certain residents that each portion reminded us of. It was
a very tearful experience. Thank You."
"There are so many
single parent families, or divorces where mom is on the east coast and
dad on the west, or one of them is already passed, possibly a
different closing signature or a choice of would be useful."
"This will be
WONDERFUL for in servicing nursing home staff and generally for use
with residents as well. Thanks for a very touching presentation."
"I have moved my 74
year old mother in with me a couple of years ago to take care of her.
Even though I love her with all of my heart, we have a good and bad
days. I will definitely put your website in my favorites to visit on
our 'bad' days. I am thankful that my friend sent this to me. I
will also be sending this to my siblings."
"Too beautiful for
words. Thank you. A Parent of Three (3) Grown Children"
"I needed that. I
will keep it to play over and over. I feel at times that I'm alone and
need to be reminded others are going through the time of life with
their elder parents also. God help me to remember ALL my parents did
for me and make me more loving when the ears don't hear and I must
repeat and repeat and repeat and the knees won't go and are slow."
"I don't think I have
ever cried this much for an e-mail. My mom has always told me that if
she gets to where she can't take care of herself to just let her die.
That's the part that broke me down. I love my mom and my dad so much,
I can't imagine my life without either of them."
"When I was 12 I
asked my Mom, 'When all 6 of us kids were grown, who will take care
of You and Dad?' I don't remember her exact reply but I then said
'I would stay and take care of them' She said 'Thank you but
I want you to have a life of your own'. As it turned out I didn't
get the chance to keep my promise because Mom died very suddenly.
After watching your presentation I now think I understand how my
father is feeling. He wants to be back with Mom, he is doing his very
best to get things in order for us 6 kids so that he can leave. I've
been bucking this, but now I think I understand and will be more
supportive. Love you Mom! Theresa Flaisman Wolf"
"I was proud that I
didn't disrespect my Parents by yelling or screaming or calling names
like I know some people do. I let her say her piece but I did say some
of my concerns. I always remember that God says, 'Honor thy Mother
and Thy Father' so sometimes even if they are wrong, you just
refrain yourself from the argument and disrespect. All that is in this
video is to the tee. It has always happened for me and my siblings,
they have brought us up properly and respectfully and I love them
dearly. My Parents sent this video to me and I know it is just another
way of them saying they always will love me. You are one of the
guardian angels that God has watching out for us. Thank You Dearly!
Love My Parents Always, Hawaii"
"This is by far the
nicest thing I have ever seen on a computer."
July 6, 2006
"I have watched my
mother care for my aging grandparents for the last two years prior to
their entering an assisted living facility. I found it necessary to
forward the movie to my mother and she too was very touched. In the
future, when caring for an aging adult, either professionally or
within my family, I will always refer back to this movie as it creates
understanding instead of frustration and fear. Well Done. HKA"
"This is an
incredibly beautiful and touching site and I thank you for making it
available to everyone. I've spent time reading every page on the site
and can't agree more with all the positive accolades you've received.
As a mother and grandmother if there is one thing I would change it
would be to request you add at least a couple more senior women to the
pages. As it stands now there is exactly one page that is devoted to a
senior woman, two pages that show both male and female hands and
eleven pages that are exclusively males. You should know I viewed this
four times before realizing how few senior women are represented on
the pages which speaks to the beauty and touching words found there
and of course one can't go wrong with Josh singing."
"I am speechless with
tears streaming down my face. What an awesome tribute! Makes one
think."
"It is really well
done. The pictures are great, the music is right on but the wording
makes me feel like I am begging to be taken care of and understood by
my children. It should also be shown to caretakers in nursing homes or
hospitals or even at-home caretakers. I think that they go thru the
routine so often that they forget the humanity of the job. It's still
very well done."
"Excellent! It made
me cry and think! Having taken care of both parents, and very ill
husband, and now a 95 year old aunt. Thank you."
"How
moving…thoughtful and wonderfully done. I forwarded this video to so
many who have the same thoughts after watching this. This video should
be put on TV in commercial spots for all to see and think about."
"This is absolutely
undescribably awesome! I have sent it to everyone I have access to
online. I keep coming back myself!"
"Thank you so much
for such a beautiful story. My kids say they will take care of me but
you never know. I emailed a copy of this to each of them. I think it
opened some eyes. God bless the writer of this. Millie"
"This piece of art
was truly amazing. It was beautiful and was truly spoken from the
heart. Being a 16 year old and coming close to having to leave my
parents behind and live my own life it showed me what I have to look
forward to and showed me to appreciate my parents more and more each
and every day. Thank you so much."
"This had me in
tears. I was just talking to my daughter today about my parents and
how difficult it’s getting. My parents are going through these ordeals
now. They each experience what you see here: the forgetfulness, the
slowness, the awkwardness, the stubbornness, technology they don’t
get. Made me realize that maybe I haven’t been as open-minded,
patient, and understanding as I should be. I realize now that I’m the
one that has to change my life and ways to help them through this.
Thank you for that."
"Thank you so very
much for the most wonderful, touching slideshow that I have ever
seen."
"Thank you so much
for this. It is beautiful. I'm glad to see there are people out there
that feel this way about there parents and older adults. You should be
very proud of yourself for this. I love it."
"Tears are still
pouring down my face as I write this e-mail to thank you for putting
to words how my parents must have felt as I so lovingly looked after
then before each of their deaths. The song 'You Raise me Up'
has always been a favorite of mine and with those pictures and words -
it is just so so sad. I miss my parents so much and this inspirational
page indeed gives people a chance to see how their parents must feel
as they grow old and feel they are just a 'burden' to their
family."
"Oh, how right on
this movie is! I went through the cycle with both my mother, my
mother-in-law, and finally, my father-in-law. And someday, in the not
too distant future, it will be our turn. May our children also
understand, with gentleness and grace, this final phase of life. Thank
you for such a beautiful presentation of it!! Lynn Van Vleet, Spring,
Texas"
"Perhaps the most
important kitchen table wisdom one could learn is to respect your
parents. This tribute is a brilliant way of getting everyone back to
basics and to REALIZING what truly is important in life. Go home, get
off the cell phone and hug your parents today – who knows what
tomorrow will bring."
"Loved this one which
was sent to me from my brother in NYC. We love it here in NY state."
"Currently, my mother
in law shares our home with our family, it is a joy to have her with
us, but then there are 'those times' when it can be taxing.
After watching this slide show my eyes were opened, how quickly we
forget where we were, not very long ago that she was the strength of
the family. Actually she still is. Days turn into weeks that turn into
months and this made me realize what a great opportunity we have to
learn from her everyday. There will be a time when she is gone. Then
we will only have memories, so we all should live each day like it
could be our last."
"I really enjoyed
this email. I found out that my dad need to have triple bypass and
have 2 girls of my own and this really lifted me today. Thank you. Kay
Mayberry"
"This was so
touching. This needs to be on TV as a commercial - to let teenagers,
younger and older people to wake up and take the time to take care of
your parents. Tammy Chapman, Columbia, SC"
"I thought that was
lovely. It's so sad that most children don't take the time to get to
know their parents as people and not just as mum and dad. I lost my
dad when I was in my early twentys and my one regret is that I didn't
get to know him as a person and not just as dad. Now both parents have
gone and they are sorely missed but I thank God that I was lucky
enough to have parents and not have bad memories of them as so many
people do have."
"This was forwarded
to me by a very close friend, who like me is a ‘young’ senior,
just recently retired. How wonderful this is; and how awfully true! We
have had aging parents and we must all realize that they too, long
ago, were young with great hopes for the future. Hopefully our own
children will remember we too were young once, and our greatest
creations were these children. Thanks for the opportunity to comment
and to say THANK YOU."
"I grew up in a not
so good family life, my parents had so many troubles, and I ended up
being sent here and there, in and out of foster homes. I never felt
like this was something I had to do. I wanted to take care of the ones
that took care of me as a child! I hope our youth of today read this
Presentation! People are just to busy it seems today to care about
anyone else but their self. Our world needs more Love in the Families!
As I tell my friends who still have the joy of having their parents,
spend every day that you can with them, for mine were too young when
they passed on. Life is a gift, untie the Ribbon. Enjoy it for
tomorrow may never come!!!"
"I will not regret
that finally I can cry after I saw this wonderful Parents' Wish.
Thanks God I still have a time to show/prove my love to my Parents.
Also thank to the ‘creator’ of this ‘short movie’ with
everlasting feeling touch. Regards, Oswald-Indonesia (a son and a
father)"
"This old man cried
knowing everything said in this Parents' Wish is true. My wife and I
are experiencing many of the things that are being said. As if they
are coming out of our mouths. Not too long. ago we were the ones
fussing over our parents. The roles are now reversed. We have lost our
feeling of immortality a few years ago. Now living the best we can in
the winters of our lives. We do love our son and daughter very much as
well as our in laws. And the love lights of our love are our five
grandchildren, the families and friends. We are happy. Oscar Apostol
Roseville, CA".
"I am forwarding this
on to my mother-in-law. Her mother has Alzheimer's and she is having
difficulty with her in a lot of these areas. I know it is hard on her
to see her mother and best friend slipping away. Her father is hard of
hearing and doesn't see very well. He is a very independent man who
will not ask for help. Things are deteriorating faster than anyone
imagined. Thank you for making this slide show to remind us of the
things that are most important."
July 5, 2006
"Very simply put,
this is fantastic. I am a 72 year old Dad and Grampy and I have just
started to exhibit the signs of what you so beautifully show in this
piece. The doctors tell me I will not be getting any better, but I
still have enough to send this to my kids and grandkids so that they
may more fully understand what we are going to be going through. God
Bless you for helping me to prepare them for the journey. I was just
wondering how to tell them when a friend sent this to me. Problem
solved."
"For the moment, I
had to stop. I just could not continue reading and listening to this
absolutely beautiful (to put it mildly) piece of artwork because I
could not see through the tears. This creation must have been designed
by someone who has faced many, if not all of the issues that are
addressed throughout the entire video. It is that reason that began
the tears, and that, combined with the lyrics, which I am sure have
gotten to many, many, grateful mothers, (such as myself) finished me
off. I'll have to try again another time when I am alone. Sue Pyron
Acworth, GA"
"I just wanted to
tell you how beautiful this Parents' Wish email is. I loved it. Thank
you."
"Words cannot express
how touched I was by this video--But. I just want you to know that it
was presented with so much sensitivity for all ages."
"What a wonderful way
to convey to your children your wishes for them and yourself in your
last years. Beautifully done and it makes this delicate subject so
beautiful and meaningful to both parties. I wish we could get more
e-mails like this and that the whole TV world could see this so true
to life video especially our new younger generation."
"As a healthcare
provider caring for mainly elderly patients, this piece was especially
touching. Each day I see patients who once were vibrant, productive
people in society, raising families, working at careers, now reduced
to confused, helpless souls. Whenever we come in contact with an
elderly person in our daily lives, we should stop and think that once
they were as young as we, as vibrant, as healthy - and that someday we
will all walk in their shoes and should give them the respect we would
so hope to receive ourselves."
"I just received and
played this beautiful Parents' Wish. I sent it to both daughters. Yes
I read it but cried all the way through it . I will keep it and try
again with out tears!"
"This was the most
outstanding slide show I have ever seen. I was my mother's care giver
for several years. Unfortunately, I lost her this year. The one thing
I am thankful for is that I always had time for her and saw her on a
daily basis. I've been married for many years but parents were always
a priority in mine and my husband's life. It's so hard losing them but
I think to lose them and have regrets would be unbearable. This
slideshow brought back so many memories - it was beautiful."
"This is absolutely
beautiful!! There are no words to describe it. As a senior mother and
grandmother, this really has a wonderful meaning. Thanks for sharing
this with me."
"Truly touched by
this wonderful presentation. God Bless you and most of all God Bless
all the seniors in this world. May he give us strength to see them
through this critical time of life and prepare us for the inevitable.
Sueva Molinaro"
"Very beautiful and
very very well put. I worked in a Nursing Home and Retirement Home and
can very well understand this. Well done."
"A wonderfully
touching and moving song and pictures. I I don't have either of my
parents anymore and miss them and will always be thankful to them. I
am - like all of us getting older and am now on the other side of life
and know that time is running out slowly but surely. Where would we be
without our start in life through our parents who we are a part of,
and where on earth would we be without their unconditional support.
Their love is irreplaceable. Lorna Brown from England. Now in Los
Angeles.
"Just a wonderful way
to remind us children how much our parents mean to us. My Mom is
getting on in age and is slowing down in the mind and sometimes my
kids and me, can get a little impatient with her, but this slide show
really reminded us of what she has done for us and what we need to do
for her."
"Truly touching! I
loved it. Please correct to, "We love you, Child."
"My family is
currently going through exactly the same thing with our mother. She
fell and broke her hip and has been having a hard time getting well.
We see daily improvement but she has her days when she wants to just
die and get out of the pain. Other days she is glad we fought to keep
her alive. Your beautifully done slideshow explains better than anyone
could what it is like to grow old. Thank you for putting it together.
"The slideshow was
made very well, and had wonderful transitions. There are only three
minor bad things. One was the song. It sounded like it was trying way
too hard to be emotional, and came off as overkill. On the same line,
some of the messages were emotional to the point of being corny. And
that leads to the only bad thing that actually infuriated me. It was
using ellipses (...) at the end of every single sentence. It is
extremely annoying to read that. That last sentence had no air of
mysticism. It's just annoying. A bit too emotional, like those
commercials for the Christian funds raising food for starving
children, but otherwise, generally good job."
"Thank you so much
for the Parents' Wish. My husband and I are going through a lot right
now trying to take care of my Mom (which I finally had to put in the
nursing home) who has Alzheimer's, his Mom whom has several health
problems, sometimes it is so trying. I thank you for this . RW"
"I know that it will
touches everyone's heart. It touches mine that I even cried. I am so
embarrass because I am feeling this to my mother that I love so
dearly. It open up my heart and beginning to understand more about her
situation. I know that it's not too late for me to do the right thing
and to show my mom how I really love her and wanted to be with her
longer so she can see my youngest child to grow up. I still have a lot
of things to learn and my mom will be the best teacher for this. Thank
you for giving me the chance to read this very beautiful letter/slide
show"
"This is beautiful
and I couldn’t help but cry reading it. Everyone should be able to see
this, especially when you are a young adult or adult when you feel so
good healthy and top of the world so you will never forget the
struggles and pains your parents took to get you there. Remember, they
ask of you so very little as they get old, to listen, to spend little
time with them to include them in your life. This is a beautiful and
touching illustration."
"This is the most
beautiful e-mail I have ever received and it really hit home. My
mother passed after our 20 year fight with Alzheimer's. She left with
dignity from her own little bed surrounded with everyone she loved. It
was a difficult time for my dad and I caring for Mom alone at home but
we wouldn't have had it any other way. Now, I care for my dad who is
so lonely without the love of his life of 72 years. He says all he has
to do is sleep and think about Mom ~ The site is perfect and so true.
Cindy"
"Thank you so much
for such a meaningful and true aspect of our lives. I have a sister
with Alzheimer's and it is so sad, but yet touching to be with her. I
just love Josh Groban and have his music. The song 'You raise me up'
is definitely the best that you could have chosen for this
presentation."
"I've seen the
Parents' Wish presentation and I must admit I was touched by it! I am
a Catholic Priest in the Bicol Region, Philippines. How I wish many
Filipinos would be able to see it as it would surely help in
strenghtening family values."
"Thank You, Thank
You!!! Finally a wonderful message for all ages to truly ponder and
keep in our thoughts."
"This is the most
inspirational and moving video I have ever seen. It say's it all. A
picture is worth a thousand words! Thank you so much!"
"How very beautiful
and touching. I was crying by the end because I have lost both my
parents and miss them so much. I think those who thought this was
encouraging euthanasia are wrong. My mother suffered a long time with
cancer and she was ready to die. She held on until she was sure that
we would take care of my father and that we would be ok. Only then did
she let herself go. Our gift to her was telling her it was ok to go.
It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do but she needed the
release. Thank you for putting this out so everyone can read it.
Sharon"
"It's a wonderful and
thoughtful creation. I lost my father a few years ago and I wish he
lived longer to see his children and grand children grow. My mum
continues caring me like her baby. I cherish her love and care. I
thank GOD for letting my mum be close and supportive to my life. I
wish my kids too understand the parental love and live a caring and a
family bonded life. I love my parents and enjoy being a parent. I
always care and will continue to do so... David from Sri Lanka"
July 4, 2006
"It was quite
enjoyable, beautifully made and the music appropriate. As a single
mom, I would never be able to send it to my children, because there is
no 'Dad' participating in my daughters' lives. Whether a parent
faces raising children as a widow/widower, a divorced person, a single
parent by choice, it would be nice to have one that is from 'Mom' or
from 'Dad' to utilize."
"A wonderful message.
I just spent the last three months of my dad's life with him, and I
hope I was able to fulfill his wishes."
"Thank you. What a
fantastic way to show my growing sons how much I love him and how much
I might need them one day. Thank you!"
"Thanks for putting
this on the email! I'm taking care of my 80 years old mom for last two
years. I had to quick my job and do with let....but Mom and Dad did
without for me when I was a kid!"
"I’m completely
speechless!"
"I am an in home care
giver for the elderly. Parents' Wish is on the money. I always try to
explain to others that the elderly are like children. But, there is
one big difference, they have EARNED our respect. The elderly depend
on us as we did on them. A little advice, don't get frustrated with
the elderly, they cannot help it. Just hope they do not realize how
much they need us. Always treat them with dignity and give them
choices. Remember, we all will be in their shoes."
"I loved the movie,
love Josh Groban too. Just one thing bothered me and that is the
comments that speak to ending one's life rather than letting God have
control, as I believe He is the one who should decide. Many times I've
seen hospice nurses carefully make sure that those who are dying are
comfortable and even at home with their families. I appreciate them so
much! Thank you for letting me comment. S. Oregon"
"Thank you for the
putting the best video I have ever seen together. It made me realized
those unhappiness and grumbles I have with my parents seemed trivial.
I will constantly remind myself that I was once young and how much
love and sacrifices they have made for me. They now deserve more of my
time and attention. Janice, Singapore"
"That Parents Wish is
beautiful. I just lost my dad June 20th and just received it and it
reminded me of my dad. Thanks again for sharing it."
"This was the most
beautiful site I have ever seen. I had a good cry, because at this
time my mother is failing in health and am dealing with it like the
story says too. At times it is hard but I just sit back and remember
the times with my parents."
"I cannot begin to
tell you how much this means to me. I have had Josh's closer ever
since it came out. You Raise Me Up was a song I heard him sing on Good
Morning America. I sent this to all my friends. It reminds me of my
mom before she passed away. Takes me right into the holy place with
God. Wonderful. The greatest email I have ever received. Nina, AL"
"It is a very moving
song. My parents are getting older and I feel so lucky to still have
them in my life. They mean the world to me. I have sent this to my
friends and hope it moves them to."
"Truly, truly
beautiful! And so very true. I took care of my mother for a year until
she was full care and had to be put into a nursing home. My mom took
care of her mom when she was dying, I was 5 years and then my kids
watched me take care of mine so I'm hoping that they will do the same
for my husband and I. This is truly heartfelt to me- i cried like a
baby-god bless you all- old and young.
"Your video seems so
beautiful and touching as one first views it, but it smacks of
accepting euthanasia and mercy-killing. I want my children to know
that God is the author of my life and He will decide when to end it,
not me, even if I am depressed and no longer want to live. I hope my
children keep making me eat and drink, in so helping them to respect
life and it gifts; to see that even in our suffering we are joined to
our life source, the One, True Creator, GOD, whose Son, Jesus Christ
has suffered, so we may live gloriously forever! Thanks for you time!
Kathy"
"I received the link
to Parents' Wish on the 4th of July 2006 and I have now listened to it
five times. My heart is touched and the words express my exact
thoughts and the music is perfect. This is a classic and should be
remembered as the great site. I sent this link to my children with the
hope that they will be touched also. Brenda L. Hudson"
"So touching and
moving. It really made me think of my parents. My father has gone on
to heaven, my mother is 83 years old. I certainly will think before I
get frustrated at her because she can't hear as well as I can,
sometimes she moves slower than me, or she is hard headed or maybe
just independent. All in all this was wonderful! I thank GOD for a
CHRISTIAN childhood. Thank you so much. Linda Freeman-Hurricane, WV"
"Incredibly beautiful
. Thank you to whoever put this together."
"I was so moved by
this. Its unbelievable. I lost my Dad 6 years ago to a number of
illnesses. He needed a Kidney and I wanted to give him one of mine,
but he told me he wanted to die, he didn't want to be here any longer
and I couldn't understand why he chose to leave me but now thanks to
Parents' Wish it has made dealing with losing him a little easier.
Thank You you don't know how much this has helped me. Corrie Fleeger"
"God, and only God,
should choose when and where we will pass on. And God, will also
determine where our next life will be; Heaven, Hell or Los Angeles,
California"
"Thank you for this
extremely moving video. I am in tears as I write. I will send it to my
remaining daughter and my grandchildren, and to all my friends with
computers. The message is priceless."
"I cried so much. The
words are very true to life and is so touching. The lyrics linger in
my thoughts for days and nights and I feel very sorry for those who
have unfilial children. I like to request, if you should have any
CD/DVD please let me know. I will like to purchase a few to present to
my friends and especially to those who have children really need it."
"Thank you for this!
My husband is not well and it will help some of our children
understand what he is going through."
"This beautiful thank
you so very much. Bill and Gaye Crowl. May god be with your project."
"The first time I
viewed it I sat crying, but it wasn't a sad cry but a cry to realize
the depth of human love and kindness and the circle of life. I only
hope our children can appreciate it. When I sent it to a friend of
mine, she used it as her wedding song when her dad danced with her!!
It's beautiful to be able to touch people in their hearts and make
them see that love between parents and children is truly ageless!!
Thank you for creating it, Yvonne in Sheepsheadbay Brooklyn."
July 3, 2006
"It is a lovely show
and very beautiful. The music is good too. I think for some situations
this would fit. Some children are raised in loving and caring homes.
There are parents out there who are kind to their children and love
them in the true sense of love. However, not every child lives in that
environment or had at one time. We need to keep that in mind too. The
movie is moving yes, but let's not get so up in emotions that we
forget the kids whose parents do abuse them. Again, not every parent
is abusive, but there are those who are."
"This is simply
stunning! My mother is slowly dying of pancreatic cancer. God has
given us 22 months since her first diagnosis. In January 2006 we felt
she had less than six weeks. God is so Good. She has been teaching her
daughter, granddaughters, and great-granddaughter to quilt and piece a
quilt."
"A very wonderful and
touching video. A good reminder for everybody on how our parents
unconditionally and lovingly brought us up. Guiding us all the way
without any complaint, just pure love. May we all give the same kind
of unconditional love to our respective parents. No complaints or
heavy hearts from us, just pure love. Joy Robles"
"I take care of my
mother, she lives with me. I will remember to think of this every time
I get angry or up set with her. Who ever this is from THANK YOU!"
"That was so moving,
and get a younger person thinking about there parents and how to help
them more. To appreciate all the things they have done for us, and is
still doing for us. we should always remember the love that our
parents and grandparents have showed us!"
"I sent this to all
the parents I knew including my daughter (she is a very good mother
and I am proud of her). She does like to tease me and correct me some
times, tell me when I have already told a story (Ha), but always with
love. This says it all. I cried all the way through it. I love it. It
says more than I could ever think to say."
"Thank you so much
for this beautiful parents wish. I work in a Retirement and Nursing
home community and I truly wish that the children of these dear older
people would be able to see Parents' Wish. I would hope that it would
make some of them take time from their all to busy lives to visit the
parent they have placed in our care. "
"I lost my mother in
2004 to Alzheimer's and my father last year to kidney failure. My
husband and I cared for them for the last six years and we became very
close. I miss them terribly, this pulled at my heart strings very
hard. It definitely made me sob and made me feel that they were
actually thanking me for understanding all of the feelings they had,
all of which you mentioned and more. Thank You For Sharing. Audrey in
California "
"This slideshow is
just absolutely wonderful. I forwarded it to my two oldest children."
"As a representative
of a hospice program responsible for the training and education of
staff and volunteers, your movie Parents' Wish would be great for
all."
"The video is fine
and the message is succinct, but it takes way too long to tell the
tale. All of the text floating in from space is overkill. If it was
cut down to a total of two minutes maximum, it would've been much
better received."
"We are 72, reaching
for the sky at this point in our lives. Thank you for these few
moments of thought and love. I shall shed a tear and move on."
"Mom and dad, Thank
you for the lessons you two have taught me. Seeing this video makes me
see just how close you two are from going home. It's bitter sweet but
part of living is dying. So knowing what reward is waiting for you two
for a job well done is comforting to me. I just want you to know while
you two are still here I love you to thank you with all my heart Your
son Billy"
"This was beautiful.
Now I know that I was a good daughter. I always told my mother that
she would never be put in a rest home. When she could no longer do for
herself, I would. She raised me from the time I was born; now it is my
turn to take care of her. I miss my mother. She passed away a little
over three months ago. I sat there, after she passed, and talked
to her. I told her that I was angry that she left me but I knew that
she was no longer in pain and that she is now free."
"Truly a beautiful
piece that brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. It will
continue to remind me to have more patience with my aging father, as
he has always been there for me. We expect too much when changes in
memory happen, and we must remember it's frustrating for them as well.
I look forward to sharing this with other friends and family, as it
was shared with me."
"Thanks so much for
such a wonderful inspirational between Moms, Dads and children. More
awesome things should be written to bring families together without
selfishness. Everyone I sent this email to got a great response. Keep
up the good work and I feel more blessed just reading it. May God
Bless Love You! Doreen Clark"
"This is beautiful!
My mother is bad with Alzheimer's but is lucky that my father is still
with her 24/7 and gets most credit for taking care of her. I liked
your comment about just being there to talk to her. She can not walk
at all and sometimes I feel useless. You confirmed that just my being
with her and talking to her is very important. Bless you for making
such a beautiful and meaningful screen. B.Williams, Chesterfield, Mo.
"That was a wonderful
video. I work as a care aide and have 3 younger children, it makes you
think of your own mortality and how true it is."
"I opened it in the
morning at my office and I started crying but was smiling at the same
time. It had touched me so much that I feel like I wanted to talk to
my mom and dad and tell them that I love them so much and no words
could explain that. I will forward this to all of my friends so they
can remember to remember all the things that our loving parents did
for us and in return we should do the same thing."
"There are no words
to express what I feel right now. Hearing and watching this
presentation brought tears to my eyes. I think of the many times I get
so angry when my poor Honeybunch isn't able to do the things he once
did, when he sleeps so often when we watch a movie together or when he
complains about his back or his aching bones. How does he put up with
me and doesn't complain but instead, he says how much he loves me and
is so glad he met me and he's so happy I'm here with him. I hope I can
change and be more understanding and patient. Thanks for sharing it."

"Mere words I cannot
find to express just how beautifully touched I was when I listened to
Parents' Wish. Truly a work of art! Carol Palmer College Station,
Texas"
"Just want to let you
know this was the most moving site I have ever seen from a parents
perspective. I sent it to my own two daughters plus to my friends who
have children for them to pass on. Most of us love our children
unconditionally, which is not always returned, but I pray that this
will soften hard hearts as well as give gratitude, and foresight to
those children who love us.. very inspiring and fantastic song to
accompany this amazingly haunting topic. Praise His name and thank
you.. Karin.....in Australia."
"I think this is
meaningful and would hit many people hard but it is totally
inappropriate for a parent to send to a child. Coming from that source
it is nothing but a guilt trip."
"The fact that
families, children and parents are not valued particularly in places
like America is a result of a system that pits people against each
other and views individuals as commodities. If people spent less time
chasing that almighty dollar which most people in America never attain
anyway and spent more time to fighting against a government that
certainly is not about freedom or democracy in America or anywhere
else for that matter maybe they would be a lot happier. Frankly I find
these works silly, sophomoric and a bit insulting to one's
intelligence."
"My father and mother
sent this e-mail to me today and I opened it this morning and have not
stopped thinking about it all day. I just played it again for my
husband. It has touched us and it is so true what it says thank you
for putting something liked that out there to share with others."
"Wow. I am a
geriatric physician. I wish I could get and 8x10 of each screen to
hang as a collage in my office. I tried printing them but they didn't
turn out."
[Webmaster's note: A
printable copy of the words of the slideshow can be found by
clicking here.]
"As far as I read
every one's comment, I did not see one comment saying it was awful.
The reason it is awful, what can be so nice as to remind us of bad
things us went through in life, and the bad things to come as yet.
Memories suppose to be nice things, and as we age we should all be
looking forward to nicer things, than to be reminded of what is in
store for us."
"Thanks for what you
have done to get and keep this out. I needed this."
"I have watched it 2
times and have sent it to my brothers and my son and my daughter....I
lost my Dad 3 years ago and this really touched me...Thank you so
much."
"I was truly touched
after watching. Thank you so very much for sharing this with all
people. I sent it to my daughters because I can never express myself
to them. You did it for me. THANK YOU!!!!! Truly Yours, A Kansas
mother"
"I am at a loss for
words to describe the impact. It truly hits home- a grand slam."
"What a wonderful
piece of advice and support to all of us who are caregivers, while
siblings ignore, steal from, and turn their backs on their parents who
had given so much."
"What a beautiful
video - I work in a nursing home.........this is just perfect....I
hope everyone sees this soon...."
"This is by far the
best e-mail I have ever gotten in my life!!!! My Mom died last year
when I was seven months pregnant with my first child. I have tears of
joy and sorrow. My tears of joy is for my son that he may one day read
this. In doing so he will understand what it means when parents grow
old. My tears of sorrow come from missing my Mom and knowing I could
never share this e-mail with her. Thank you for taking the time to use
technology to do something so beautiful. Sincerely, Carol"
"What an awesome
video. A Yahoo fellow list member posted it on her email and I just
now viewed it, with tears in my eyes. It reminds me of all the
emotions coming forth in the interactions with my ever vivacious,
loving mother, now 82 years old and experiencing some memory loss.
Thank you for all your hard work in making sure it remains on the
internet for all to see. Carol Bilbrey"
"I am an RN who works
in hospice. This would be so helpful to my hospice families. I pray
you get the copy write issues resolved soon. I feel certain Mr. Groban
would love for his music to be a part of something so beautiful and
needed."
"The scene about
'wanting to die' is inappropriate and offends many religious
beliefs. It truly spoils an otherwise dedicated effort to relate old
age and its infirmities to our children and solicit their love and
compassion. A deletion or modification is very much needed."
"As I sit here this
morning with my own Mother lying in a hospital bed in her room getting
ready to make her final journey , your video touched me deeply,
brought tears coursing down my face, but left a joy in my heart
knowing I have been able to give her her final wish to end her life in
peace and dignity surrounded by those she loves. Thank you from the
bottom of my heart."
"My Big brother sent
this to me...I was very touched by it. You all did a wonderful JOB!!!
God bless and keep you!"
"It is a very true
and wonderful slide show. Really gets you to think more on how our
parents feel in their older age. Thanks for creating it."
July 1, 2006
"Thanks so much...It
is absolutely beautiful."
"This wonderful poem
and music was so heart warming and made me think back about both my
husband and mother who died three months apart, just two years ago. I
can still remember my mother always saying that she wanted to be with
God and that she was waiting at the top of the mountain for him. My
husband was not a religious person, nor I, but after listening to this
I feel that though we do not go to church, God is in our hearts. I
have listened to this and read the poem many times and I thank the
person who did such a fine job of it. Just thinking about it brings
tears to my eyes."
"My parents would
never keep reminding me what they did for me. I was a gift from God
and in their charge, also my parents wouldn't say they want to die. My
parents might say that they are ready to go home to the Lord and I
won't needed to be told how to treat my Mom and Dad."
"I thought the music
and the pictures were beautiful. I agreed with parts of the video, but
not all of it. I believe that older individuals may need to be handled
somewhat differently, especially if they are at a stage where they
need help either physically or mentally. They may, in fact, need to be
told to eat for the benefit of their health. I also think that if you
have a loving relationship with your children, they will naturally
take care of you out of love, not out of guilt. I felt that parts of
this video invoked feelings of guilt rather than simple love and
loyalty."
"Totally awesome I
sobbed my heart out!! Whoever did this- I thank you!"
"Years ago my Mother
came to stay with us after she had cancer. So many things on your
video rang true. We were really blessed everyday that we were
able to have her here with us for that short time that she stayed with
us and she always said that she never wanted to go to a nursing home
and we told her she never ever would. This video is priceless. I cried
from start to finish. Thank you."
"This was beautiful
and touching. All fathers and mothers should make their children aware
of their wishes. I had a brother who should not have had his life
prolonged as a vegetable in a nursing home for eight years because his
5 children loved him and didn't want to let him die. It would have
helped them to let him go without guilt if he had told them his wishes
before the accident. Sandy N. Port Richey, FL"
"This song is so
beautiful, I went through this with my parents and now my children
will have to go through this with me and my husband (80 and 85 years
old) but I hope this will make them think about old age and know that
life will not always be like it is for them today."
"I have turned this
on 4 times to watch, and cry as hard each time. So touching. I too,
lost my mother and saw her deteriorate and unable to take care of
herself. I am so happy that I looked after her, and gave her the love
and support that she needed in her old age. JO"
"I have never seen
anything so heart warming, and true in all my life.........God Bless
our parents!"
"I am a 67 year old
male and I still cry when I watch It, and have sent it to many !!!"
"Very touching and
poignant."
"This is wonderful, I
sent it to my daughter and her children. My Grandson (age 11) offers
his shoulder for me to steady myself and my granddaughter always help
me up and down stairs. I could see myself and millions of others in
this beautiful video. Thanks"
"It was very heart
warming and also made me a little sad. Hoping I was not like this to
my parents. They both died so quickly. They were so loving and kind.
I know I think of them a lot and have missed them all these years. My
problem is that I have not been able to forward this on to many of my
friends."
"I would just like to
say thank you to and for the person or people who have put this
beautiful and most heartfelt message on the web! It has touched my
heart and I'm sure it has touched many others and is continuing to
touch more hearts! It really makes you think of how we can take for
granted our parents sometimes and how it's important to love them,
respect them and cherish them because without God they wouldn't have
been here nor have you and I."
"Wow! Wow! This is so
powerful. What a wonderful way to share life's experiences with your
children. I'm a mom and grandma and not in the best of health but I
sure want my kids to know I love them with all my heart and I know
they love me and now you showed me the way. Thank you soooo much. Pat
in Fla"
"This is just so
awesome. As I sit here trying to see through the tears to type this
thanks for true meaning to real life. At 77 years of a blessed life
and reflection of the times with my parents, especially my mother who
lived to be 99 1/2 years old. I can see history repeating itself. God
bless you for this great word. Dorothy T."
"I just received this
through my yahoo messenger and to my curiosity I opened it and I found
something, something that made me think about my parents. Something
that made me realized how much I love them and how much I care for
them and not just for them but also for my grandparents. This is a
very beautiful poem dedicated for all the parents in this world. I
hope everyone will know about this.- Thyrde"
"This was so
beautiful and it brought tears to my eyes. I only hope my children
will see this and maybe understand us a little better. We are not
there yet but we are not far off and our children still expect us to
be the same as we were many years ago. They do not have much patience
for 'old age' and this can be very frustrating. Thanks for a
beautiful way to tell them!!"
"This is incredibly
touching. We are two very devoted young parents, who think, work and
live our lives for our two beautiful sons. All we want in return is
for them to respect us and not throw us in the streets, but what
better way to convey the message than this beautiful, marvelous,
breathtaking, and tear-bringing message and music? You've done such a
wonderful job. It's hard to think that we're going to get old, but we
should accept it and hope that our children will respect and one day
they will understand how much they mean to us. Migena Alikaj"
"Beautiful job. I now
have my mother in a nursing home and some days it becomes trying and
this is the most awesome thing I have ever seen besides God's
creation. Thank you so much."
"I cried all the way
through it. Had to watch it twice to see it all. I wish I could
express myself that well."
"Absolutely loved
it........I cried the whole way through."
"Thank you for a
wonderful reminder. As I sit here preparing to take my elderly parents
to my son's wedding five hours away, I needed to be reminded on how
precious they are to me. How blessed I am to have them here with me
and to enjoy this day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 'DC'
Florida"
"I wanted to thank
you for doing such a great slide show. It makes me understand as a
child, my parents point of view. Did I cry? Of course I did. It was
very emotional and a job very well done. Thanks!"
"I cried as yesterday
was the second anniversary of my mother's passing and in three weeks
it will be the third anniversary of my father's passing. Losing both
parents in just eleven months of each other was very hard but I
somehow think my mother wanted to be with my father. I will send this
to my children and hope they see what I saw- a beautiful presentation
not to be missed. Thank you for the time and energy you put in to
something so compelling."
"It's absolutely
beautiful. I lost my Mom and Dad last year and seeing this made me
understand some of the things they said to me."
"I wept when I viewed
this. This piece went straight to my very core. But please, may I make
a suggestion? In the first frames, remove the phrase 'had to'
from the parents' memories of caring for their children. Simply remove
that phrase, which implies reluctance and a sense of drudgery, and is
not needed. 'We read to you a thousand and one times the same story
until you went to sleep...' 'We chased you with your thousand excuses
to get you to the shower...' With unconditional love, freely given
to the young and to the very old, the heart does not recognize 'have
to'.
[Webmaster's note:
Good point. I'll bear that in mind when we do our next revision of the
slideshow.]
"This is an excellent
show. It really tugged my heartstrings! I've never received an email
as touching as this. This is a very perfect piece for both parents and
children. It reminds us that growing old is really inevitable. It
allows us to realize the unique love and care that only parents can
give to their children."
"Wish I could have
shared this with my parents and grandparents."
"So many feelings, so
many emotions, so many thoughts. I have walked this road, and I am a
better person because of it. The pride I have from the role I played
in those last 4 to 5 years of my dads life will stay with me forever.
To all who were a part of a Parents Wish thank you. Lets make God
proud of all of us. God bless to all. Tommy"
June 30, 2006
"Thanks for the great
job. I am the chaplain for Springhill Fire and Rescue and Hernando
County Fire and Rescue. I put the address on my chaplains web page and
word got back to me that some of the fire fighters (men ) cried when
they viewed it. Great job."
"I'm sitting here
with tears still flowing down my face, I have sent this to my own
three children, every word is so true. It is positively the most
beautiful an emotional e-mail I have ever received. Thank you to
everyone that contributed to this incredible piece."
"Thank you! It is so
easy to be impatient when we are in a hurry or something. It doesn't
mean there isn't a HEAP of love there. Thanks for slapping me back to
what is important. I hope that I can always be exactly what my Mom
needs. I will always remember these words and thoughts whenever I am
with my Mom! Cathie, Warrenville, Illinois"
"I have shed a many
tears just watching it. I lost my parents, a sister is the one
that went through the feeding. I need one for me to watch while
thinking. I went to a daughters house in Indiana. God Bless You-Clara
Cole"
"Our Daughter sent
this e-mail to us, and it is so beautiful and inspiring, love it, even
though it makes me cry. Thank you, Mrs. Dale (Ruth), Hallett,
Lyons, OH"
"Thank you for this
wonderful piece. I had just sat down with my son who is 23 only a few
days before I got this from a friend, and told him how much I loved
him, as I have at every opportunity. I sent this to him and he said he
cried nearly all afternoon over how beautiful it is. I know there will
be times when I am a problem to him but, I know his love for me is
very deep and that he will rise to the occasion and be there to help
all he can. Corrine Steer"
"This was a very
moving and touching video for me. It reminds me of my 90 year old
grandmother who raised me and to see what she is going thru and
knowing her wishes to let her live her life to the fullest the way she
wants. God Bless you for this."
"Well, I just cried a
bucket. The film has made me (and my husband watched it) realize, not
that I didn't before, that we become our 'Parent's Parents'
when they cannot take care of themselves. Joanne"
"My mother had
dementia and it was very hard for me to see her go backwards the way
she did and that I could no longer carry on a conversation with her. I
also know this may happen to me some day and is a little scary. I sent
it to our daughters because it is exactly how I feel. It was so
beautiful and brought tears to my eyes."
"Thank you for
sharing this wonderful tribute. God Bless You."
"My sisters and I are
taking care of my mother, age 87 who has Alzheimer's as well as colon
cancer. A great reminder for us and a message needed for everyone.
Barb"
"Beautifully done.
Thank you."
"I am an only child
and have been a caregiver of elderly parents for 11 years now. A
friend told me about the website. I sat and cried as I listened to
this. It is a good reminder how important it is to remain involved in
our elderly lives and it helps to see things in a different
perspective. Have compassion and respect for them for we to will be in
this same position one day. Jan…Georgia"
"This is the most
amazing e-mail I or anyone has ever read or seen. Thank you for
allowing me to share this."
"This just hits right
in my heart. Our seniors are the book of wisdom, we can learn a lot
from them. I lost a wonderful dad I would have done anything for and I
was blessed with 2 wonderful grandparents and I have learned great
lessons from them about compassion and family. I thank God for
crossing my path with them."
"AMEN and Amen!"
"This e-mail brought
out so much emotion, that I just sobbed my way through. My mother is
94 has Alzheimer's, cannot walk, has to be washed and dressed and has
to wear diapers. She is still at home and we, her children take turns
caring for her. Sometimes it is hard to get her to eat. When I saw
this e-mail I realized this is not important but she is. Thank You.
Norma"
"My name is Leanne.
I'm 23 years old. Yesterday, as I went back home with my dog from the
park and McDonald's, my papa was in the mood and happy. He told me
that there's this site he wants to view with me. At first, I really do
not have any idea on what is it all about. When it played, I began to
cry in front of my papa. He's telling me that 'this is what me and
your mama wish for as we are getting older now. In our age, its not to
lived but to survived.' I was so touched and can't help
crying everytime I view it. It's a wonderful movie to share to
everyone."
"My gratitude to
those who created this video. I need this loving reminder as my
parents age. I am reminded of our reciprocal love and their need for
dignity. I pray for God’s guidance as my parents age and for someone’s
loving hand as my husband and I grow old. Thanks again for a loving
tribute to life."
"Thank you for
sharing this treasure of memories and reminders of all the unselfish
acts of love and parenting that so many of us were the lucky
recipients of. I was filled with deep emotion and sadness
because we all need to be made aware and reminded frequently that we
must take the time to support, love and lend dignity to our parents as
they are faced with aging and many of the symptoms of debilitating
illnesses that some of them will experience. The unknown author was
able to put into words all the thought, feelings and emotions that
many parents experience."
"I am a nurse that
graduated from the Philippines and have served the elderly and the
geriatric population in the USA for over 15 years especially the
Veteran Population. I could very much relate to the slide show that I
viewed in your website. It was done so beautifully. The background
music and the presentation was superb. I was so emotionally touched by
it."
"What a beautiful
slide show, how touching."
"WOW! This touched me
as a parent and as a child. It made me think about my parents, and how
difficult they are now that they are in their 70's. It also made me
want my children to know how I feel, and will feel when I am that old.
Thank you so much for such an inspiring site. You made me cry, in joy
and heart ache. A. Nation, NC, USA"
"Going through hard
times right now with a mother who is ill and needs lots of attention -
this humbles me into not complaining and I don't want to not be able
to view it as needed!"
"Wonderful video - I
look forward to receiving and sharing it!"
"This is such a
beautiful message. Thanks for sharing it!!!!!!"
"I am a nursing
assistant in a hospital and a health care center. I wish they would
show this during orientation for all our new hires. It gives you a
different view of those you will be caring for. Syrina Podeweltz"
"Thank you so much
for spending the time in putting this together. It is the most
wonderful way of saying what millions of parents would like to have
but could not say to there children. My wife and I are two of those
people. I cannot tell you how much this has meant to us to be able to
email to our children. Bill and Lorna Wilson"
"The Parents' Wish
was just beautiful. My wife and I have adopted Josh's song in honor of
our disabled daughter who passed away on June 25, 2003. When we hear
that song it inspires us tremendously and we think of the good times
we had with her all of her 39 years. May you produce more works like
this. Charles and Margaret, Baltimore, Maryland"
"My 90 year old
mother is in better health than most 80 year olds, so this made me
think how special she is and I need to remember that when I get
annoyed with her. It is a beautiful piece and I believe I read it this
morning because she is spending part of the day with me. Sandy Wichita
KS".
"I loved this video
and would love to have it to show to our church. Sometimes people
forget all their parents have done for them and too many times they
are placed in Nursing homes and forgotten. Thank you for being willing
to develop this and share with us. I know God will bless your efforts
and touch many hearts. Respectfully, Connie Rhyne"
"This was the most
beautiful slide show I have ever seen. It really struck a chord with
us, and a wonderful reminder for the care and concern we have for our
elders, Thank you. M. Forney"
"This has to be the
most beautiful thing I have ever heard and seen. My eyes are drenched
from crying; it really hits home and gives me a new perspective to try
harder and be more patient. Thank you from all my heart."
"Thanks for what you
have done to get and keep this out. I needed this!"
"I was in tears
reading and listening those beautiful and inspiring message with Josh
Groban song as a background. It is fantastic! I know it is hard to be
old even though I am still 29 years and single, getting old is one of
my fears in life. It is served as a reflections for us young adults,
to love our grandma and our parents unconditionally as they did to us.
They are our angels!"
"Before my husband
passed away from ALS in October 2004 he loved it when I sang along
with this song when they played in on our religious station in
Southern California. Thank you so much--I love Josh Groban. Caroline
Bryant"
"It was really
touching and as child it moves me so much regarding my attitude
towards my parents and as a teacher I am also hoping that I may be
able to make my students view this amazing and touching presentation
so that they may value much their parents because as you know teenager
resort to rebellion whenever their parents tried to mend their lives."
"I cried buckets of
tears, it was so beautiful."
June 29, 2006
"The music really
blends with the story and it is very touching. I recently loss my
mother and this movie made me realized the value of patience and
understanding towards our parents when they reach old age. Thank you
for sharing this wonderful story."
"Wonderful, is all we
can say. We're at that age now, and we tried to understand our parents
problems as they got older, so we hope our kids can understand what
we're going thru now. They're all great kids, but have so much going
on in their lives now (and with the fast pace of today's world) --
it's hard to 'stop and smell the roses'"
"I wish I could have
sent this to my father before he passed away. Also sitting here trying
to type with the tears running down my face. Loved it. Thank You. Keep
up the good work."
"Absolutely
beautiful!! I love it for my elderly father and pray that my own
children will love it for me!! Thank You"
"My husband and I
can't express enough how touching this video is. Thank you for sharing
it with the world. I have sent it to so many friends and family. We
are all approaching this time in our lives. I hope my children will
pay attention to it. I feel many days that I am about there. May the
Lord bless you for the good you are doing in the world. Creig and
Sharon Jewkes, Utah"
"This is a beautiful
and inspiring video. Thank you for sharing it with the world. We need
more things like this."
"Thank you. Very
powerful and a good reminder."
"The movie and the
music fit perfectly. I am deeply touched and deeply appreciate the
person who designs this, although this is the second time I view the
movie, my tears still well-up. In this modern era, there are many
children out there who have no filial piety towards their parents,
this would certainly arouse their conscience. As for myself, it makes
me think of my mother of 80 years old who is living alone, I should
have spent more time with her. Thank you very much for everything."
"Wow! A truly
beautiful, poignant and inspiring presentation. May all children view
it and learn from it."
"I thank God for
elderly parents who taught me to work and earn an honest living. They
taught me to have a lot of patience and respect for people and their
property. If a person has a loving family, they are truly rich. All
the money in the world cannot erase the wonderful memories of a
family's love during good times and bad times. I wish that all
families would love each other more than a lot of things. Walker in
LA.
"If anyone who ever
reads this worked in geriatrics like I do and still has a negative
feedback I would like to know if you have a soul? My childhood wasn't
the greatest either but as a friend just brought to my attention, you
can't just see the black and white all the time you have to look for
the gray sometimes. Who ever put this together definitely has a soul."
"What a beautiful
piece--I'm still brushing tears. Makes me think about my children's
Father. My parents -so many thoughts..Thank you for putting out such a
great Parents' wish."
"This is one of the
most beautiful things I have ever viewed on computer. I have sent it
to my daughter and hope that she listens to it and that it soaks in.
My parents are both gone but sure wish I would have listened to
something like this before they passed away, especially, my mom. Keep
up the good work."
"Great! Very
touching. My one suggestion is not to continue to mention 'like we
did for you when you were young' in multiple slides. I would
present the slides that do not pertain to those things we may have
done for our little one at one time near the beginning. Then
transition to all the sayings/slides that pertain to what we do for
them when they were young, but not to remind them until the end. The
last slide should be one of a Mother and Father helping a child
accomplish something wonderful with the simple reminder that 'we
ask that you do many of these wonderful things for us while
remembering that it was much of the same we did for you many years
ago.' Or something similar. Or just don't change it. It is just my
thoughts."
"Thank you so much
for the movie. When I got it did made me cry. It was so beautiful. I
play it everyday."
"I am writing from
Utica, NY (upstate NY). I am a Boomer and my parents are in their
mid70's. I found this site from my synagogue, Temple Beth Joseph in
Herkimer,NY. After I stopped crying, I gave it to my sister in Albany
NY. Thank you from my soul."
"I congratulate
anyone with good health and resources that take care of their parents.
It was extremely stressful caring for my parents and in-laws that had
Alzheimer's, Lou Gehrig, and Parkinson's between them, all at the same
time. I would not send this to my children, however. It is a little
too guilt-inducing. They have all they can handle raising their own
children and surviving. I am confident they will do what they can. The
rest is up to me and God."
"Thank you so much. I
am now living with my mother in order to help her. We watched it
together and cried together."
"That was wonderful!!
My Grandmother is 80 and starting to do some of those things you
mentioned. I needed the reminder and the cry. The music really moved
me. Thanks. Kim"
"The slide show on a
Parents' Wish was beautifully done. It certainly brings tears to your
eyes."
"This says it all.
It's the most beautiful and heart felt piece I've ever received. As an
old guy, my time is short. I sent this to my kids. I hope they get the
point. Thank you for creating such a wonderful message. John"
"I couldn’t stop
crying. My daughter is only 3 and I am 45."
"Your video is well
done and truly addresses issues which the children of senior citizen
parents need to hear. The third party approach of this video is
effective as attested to by your numerous feedbacks. I would have only
one suggestion. As a retired physician I have seen hundreds of
patients who never received your message and seldom, if ever, visited
their parents in their sunset years. After their parents passed, they
felt guilty and remorseful that they did not do so. Perhaps you could
add that issue to your excellent video when next you modify it."
"Thank you for making
my day brighter. Your efforts are very much appreciated."
"Thank you. It is a
beautiful presentation that every child should see."
"This was so touching
and so very real. I am not well and I gave birth to 2 children that
need to see this. Beautiful".
"The most beautiful
and moving example of what it is all about. It applies to all."
"It is truly
beautiful and something I would like to pass on to people who do not
have computers. Thank you."
"Loved your video.
Would have liked to see more culturally diverse photos, though. This
message applies to ALL people of all cultures, nationalities and
ethnic groups. Messages, advertisements and public service
announcements all serve their purposes at a far greater extent when
those who view them can relate to the images both visually and
mentally."
"Thank you for
putting this video together. It probably is the most moving thing I
have experienced so far on the internet. Both of my parents are gone
from this earth now, and I wish I had one more chance to show them
each patience and hold them up as they walked. I hope that my child is
as touched by this video as I am."
"I just finished
viewing this magnificent work of art, words, and music. I am sitting
here crying and it has touched my heart over the love I have for my 78
year old mother. And how hard it is to see her aging. Thank you so
much for your ministry and love for people especially for the aged."
"Parent's Wish is so
moving. Thank you for this great work."
"This movie has tears
running down my face. Very touching, thank you. I will forward to
those people that I know will appreciate it. Laura Lai-Minteer"
"Mom no longer hears
as well as she once did and there are times she repeats herself over
and over again, but after reading and listening to Parents' Wish, I
realized that all the things Mom has done for me while growing up and
even after I was grown up far outweighs the little things I have to do
for her now - in fact what I need to do pales into insignificance
compared to everything Mom has done for me! Parents' Wish has
brought me closer to my Mom and has renewed the immense respect I have
always had for her. Aaron R Chen, Jakarta, Indonesia"
"Absolutely
wonderful. I cried all the way thru. It's so poignant. We have 3 kids,
and I will send it to them to let them know how it feels to be older.
Thanks a million."
"Absolutely
wonderful. I am going to send this to everyone I know."
"It's a beautiful
slide show...except for the big box on the left."
[Webmaster's note:
We've removed the control panel on the left. Hope you'll like the new
look]
"I thought it was
absolutely beautiful. And the words so true and full of wisdom
Wonderfully done."
"Thanks so much for
the much needed reminder I so desperately needed to hear and see. I
will now think hard before becoming impatient with my 87 year old
mother. We all need to hold dear and cherish our elder loved ones. Oh
the wisdom they can pass on, if we can listen with willingness and
open heart. Thanks so much for a most beautiful reminder. God bless Jo
Gebbia-Wismar"
"A beautiful piece of
work. A work of truth. The movie is great and touched me so and helped
me to keep on keeping on and try to be a better daughter in law. I
want my husband to see this also. I had a good cry when I listened to
it and read the lines. I had to repeat it several times. Thanks again
and God bless you for your efforts."
"Today is my mother's
86th birthday. I've learned to consider it a privilege, rather than a
burden, to help her with her daily life. Your beautiful video and
lovely music confirms that I am on the right path aging and maturing
gracefully with my mom. Thank you so much for doing this. It really
made me miss my dad who just passed away a few months ago. My
heartfelt aloha and mahalo to you. God bless. GCF"
"Touched my heart
deeply. Strengthened my belief and value of showing love and gratitude
to 'mom and dad'. Thank you for your effort to share this
meaningful message. God Bless You Always!"
"Thank you for a
wonderful and meaningful video. I was very moved."
"I would just like to
tell you that you people have done a wonderful job. I have no words to
thank you. I'm 18 years old girl and this was sent to me by my parents
and after viewing the clip, the respect for senior citizen has
increased by 100 times more. Finally, I would just like to say THANK
YOU."
"This was the most
awesome thing I have ever seen, it brought tears to my eyes, and
raised the hair on my arms - The author took all the thoughts and put
them to words, that every parent would want their children to know,
and Josh Grobans music makes it complete! Every adult child in America
should see and hear this. Thank you."
"Our father has
Alzheimer's/Dementia for almost 3 years now and we recently placed him
the VA Center for Progressive Care in Pittsburgh. The Parents' Wish
touched me as how I know that these would be our Dad's words if he
could say them. I pray that he doesn't realize the things that have
gone on in his life in the last 3 years. I want to send this to
my own adult children so they know the words that they will only see
in my eyes someday if the disease passes on to me. Thank you for the
words of love that need to be seen by all who has been touched by
Alzheimer's"
"I was an only child,
in my 50's when mom died and dad came to live with us. He was a great
dad, I was always proud of him, but then age came on and I had to
realize that the major man in my life was leaving me, physically and
mentally. He missed my mom so bad!!! This tribute to the Parents' Wish
is just what my dad would have ordered. Dad knows I loved him, but did
not know how to deal with the major mountain man of my life turning
into the frail human being he had become. Thank you for this beautiful
site."
"Thanks for reminding
us that even we will become old some day. The paradox is that we all
know it but forget to remember and live our lives otherwise. Knowledge
is like a fertilizer to a plant. It has to be fed regularly until the
plant becomes self dependent. One just cannot give the whole
fertilizer required to the plant in one go. Such work works like the
fertilizer which clears the illusion. It is really awesome and hope it
helps many souls who loose the way in between. I am one of them. Samir
Kapur, India"
"This slide show is
so totally true. I lost my father in 1997 at the age of 98 and 1/2
years of age. Taking care of Dad, and seeing him go through his last
few years was very hard for all of us. I cried knowing that what I was
seeing and reading was also going to happen to every human being if we
are lucky enough to live that long. I pray my children can learn from
this and have compassion for me when I am at that stage in my life. ~
Thank you to whomever put this together and then shared it in such a
beautiful and touching way.... Martha"
June 28, 2006
"Oh my! This has
made me realize how I am seeing my husband. He is only 66 but some of
these same things I see in him. I hope I will be a better wife and
person by watching this video. Thank whomever put it together. I want
to send it to everyone I know. I sent it to my daughter and hopefully
she will send it to someone else. It is definitely worth watching over
and over again!"
"I was very inspired
by the video. It brought tears to my eyes."
"This is the most
awesome presentation I have ever received via email. I am 60 yrs old
and will be sure to keep this for my 2 girls someday. Everything about
this presentation is just really awesome.. Keep up the good work".
"As we sit here in
tears we are so grateful to have read this beautiful slide show. I
thank my Sister in-law for passing it on. We hope our children view it
and understand how true it is and that we could not have said it any
better. Thank you so much. Jim and Joan Berube"
"I have watched the
presentation three times this evening, and each time I find myself
sobbing. Thank you for helping me understand my parents more, so I can
enjoy them now, while they are still here."
"I listened/watched
the video and it brought tears to my eyes. My Mother, who will turn 84
this summer has Alzheimer's. As I live in the same city, I am
basically the main caregiver. I also find myself impatient with her
forgetfulness and having to explain things to her over and over. I get
frustrated with her hiding her belongings and then blaming others for
taking them. It makes me sad when I think of all the help (both
physically and financially) that both Dad and Mom gave to others when
they were in their 'better years' and now, when Mom is in need,
there are very few of them that show their faces. Thank you so much
for this wonderful and inspiring piece - it truly has given me the
'fuel' I need to continue doing what I do! - Bonnie
"This is so
beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. Thanks"
"A friend of mine
sent this to me and it is absolutely beautiful! I am one of three
children of an octogenarian and she is still lively and feisty! But
there are times when I do remember the old adage...'Once a man,
twice a child' and take a breath and smile at my Mom, instead of
getting angry. Thank you for this, because I hope that someone will be
kind to me when I get to 'the golden years'.
"This Parents' Wish
was perfect. It was sent to me by a cousin, who was very thoughtful
and new of my frequent impatience with both my parents. My dad is 93
and my mom 89. This collage and music was as if it were written
specifically for me. It came at a time when, instead of truly
appreciating the life of my parents, I was becoming more and more
impatient with them. Thank you so much for allowing me to come to my
senses. I sincerely appreciate it."
"WOW what a touching
tribute to our parents."
"I am desperately in
love with my children and when I saw this I cried my eyes out. There
are times when I forget how special the time is that I have with them
and this truly helps me to remember how precious they are to me."
"Would you please
send me some Kleenex, I can't stop tearing. This is the most touching
thing that I have had sent to me in years."
"I think much of what
is here is very good/very accurate and needed. However, in the two or
three slides about the wish for dying. I personally cannot agree. The
music/sentiment is felt, but if a parent does all those things then
they should also show courage through to the end.. .the natural end.
Otherwise your screens on so much that was shown by the parent is lost
when they 'give up' versus fight. Tim Nieman"
"Awesome!!! This
should be shown in personal care homes for staff and families to
watch. I worked in healthcare for 20 years and the verses in this
video are not always followed and they should be."
"I have sent this to
my children many times and to my friends also. My parents are gone now
but I never regretted doing for them. Josh Groban's 'You Raise Me
Up' is just perfect for this, it brought many tears to my eyes.
When I watch the slideshow I think about myself and how fast the years
have gone and I hope that by sending this to my children they will
understand my feelings."
"It was so touching
that I've forwarded it on to my two children and my older sister. I
could hear the voice of my 92 year old mother reaching out to my
family. It is her prayer to live the rest of her life with dignity and
surrounded my her family's love and support. Merci beacoup for
sharing! Mary Lynn Curry"
"Absolutely Awesome.
Thank You! Dr. James A Cardin"
"My 95 year old
Mother died today after spending her last years in a Nursing Home. I
only wish I had seen this message my daughter had sent a few days ago.
After spending a few years in the nursing home caring for our mother
we became a part of their family and my sister and I have come to
realize that the caretakers and the residents are very special people
and we need to pay more attention to those that do not have families
or friends to be there for them. Remember someday you will want
someone to help take care of you."
"May this information
so beautifully put into song, pictures and written words make it to
the hearts of those who have parent who really is near the end and
unable to say these words to their own child. Thank you for touching
my life at the perfect time. Laura in Kansas"
"I would like to say
well done at producing this slideshow which probably brought back many
memories to some and probably gave others a 'wakeup call' and
prompt them to pick up the phone to call that person so dear to them."
"WOW!!!! This is the
greatest thing I've ever seen. I couldn't read it without getting
choked up."
"Extremely depressing
and unnecessary."
"What a beautiful and
profound piece. I have forwarded it to many people. Thank you so
much!"
How intensely
beautiful, moving and real!! I lost my Daddy 9 yrs ago to cancer and
my Mama Feb 2005 to Alzheimer's. I cared for both of them and never
regret a minute of the time I was given to be with them and try to pay
back all they had done for me through the years. I am now a nurse in
Long Term Care. I adore my patients and fully understand the journey
they and their families are making. Thank you for such an emotional
reminder of life. ST, LPN, Tenn."
"It is unfortunate
that in our society we see old age and struggles as something bad.
Although the music, images and words are powerful and play on our
emotions, it does not negate the fact that the last few slides seem to
condone assisted suicide. The world would be a better place if we
spent more time visiting not only our parents but all those confined
to a hospital or nursing home. My family will remember all those who
are suffering in our prayers. Mike"
"Absolutely beautiful
and meaningful. Brought tears to my eyes. Contains wisdom which we can
all benefit from."
"Thank you for one of
the most moving tributes to parenthood and aging that I've ever seen."
"I enjoyed this
though the music didn't come through. I sat with my parents as they
died 2 weeks apart. My dad had a cerebral hemorrhage and mom had a
stroke and when dad died she was overwhelmed. I fed her until she
could no longer swallow brought on by the stroke and died shortly
after. I know they are together and that I did all I could for them
while here but miss them so very much. Thanks for the words. Rosalee"
"Awesome!!!!"
"Absolutely
wonderful! My five siblings and I rotate our elderly parents errands
every week; and in viewing this presentation it has become so clear
why we so freely and openly give back to our parents. They gave us so
much, best of all they gave us a happy childhood. I only hope that we
can give them happiness in their old age. Rosie Dominguez"
"This is so true, as
it was with my mother who recently passed away. I will pass this on to
my children so they will understand. Thank you. Debra Harper"
"This is simply
beautiful. Very inspiring and very heart touching. It makes us more
appreciative of what we have today to enjoy, because as for tomorrow
it might be gone. It makes us strengthen our faith in the Lord and
makes us be appreciative and know that God loves us and will take care
of us at no matter what age we are. God bless you, you have touched
the hearts of many, have a wonderful day. Kelly S. Miles"
"You have developed a
wonderful, poignant presentation on aging. We just recently laid to
rest my wife's mother at the age of 95 1/2. My wife along with several
wonderful care givers lovingly cared for her in our home the past nine
plus years as we learned the lessons of your Parents' Wish. If I were
a carpenter, I would say that you definitively hit the nail on the
head! This is a message to be shared by those of all ages. The wisdom
is timeless."
"Every person that
has an elderly loved one in their life, or caregivers of the elderly
should be required to see this often.. to remind them.. us.. how much
our parents gave to us when we were little. I am a caregiver to the
elderly and I just lost my mom recently who for years could do nothing
for herself. These are the words we told her when she felt bad that we
had to care for her. It was truly our honor and pleasure to give back
to this beautiful lady. Your video reminded me, again, how truly
blessed I was to have had that opportunity. Debbie"
"After taking care of
my mother for the last 5 year of her life, I can surely identify with
this most beautiful slide show and all it represents. It has just
passed the first anniversary of my mother’s passing from Alzheimer’s
and I sure wish I had seen this that first year of caring for her. Up
until the day she died I didn’t know it but she was teaching me and
touching my soul with each and every 'trial' she set forth for
me. I am a better, and richer person for having cared for her and by
learning the lessons first hand that are depicted in your
presentation. Anni Bender"
"This is another
propaganda 'in sheep's clothing' for euthanasia/assisted
suicide. It says, when the parent 'wants to die' we should
'understand' - and 'help them end their life with love and
dignity' - no. To help someone through to their natural death with
love and dignity is what we should do. To say to someone who 'wants
to die' - 'you will die when God wants - not when you want',
and to help them to offer their sufferings to God, and to use that
opportunity to lovingly care for them all the more."
"This is more a
reminder of the frailty of our aging than a hope for our children to
understand. It sort of says we did this for you so now we need your
help and understanding. If in fact we did all these loving things for
our children we will get our just rewards and do not at this age have
to explain it to our children. It is beautiful, but miss worded and
strikes me as still parenting our children. Sincerely, Dean Austin
Texas"
"This is such a
touching video. I received it this morning and, as my mother passed
away one year ago from Alzheimer's dementia, it was so appropriate
that I sobbed. I am also a nurse in a dementia unit and interact with
26 of the most loving patients. This video is so true. This is
awesome. Love, Kathy Kolodge"
"Oh my gosh, that was
so awesome. It almost made me cry. It makes you really think of how
your parents may be feeling getting close to that age when they might
not be able to take care of themselves, and how they worry. Thank you
for making this possible for me to view. Janette"
"So parents deserve
the same treatment they gave their children? I hear the most horrible
stories of parental neglect, mistreatment, and cruelty in my substance
abuse program, and I pray that we can love unconditionally, not just
reciprocally."
"I was deeply touched
and crying at the same time. You know it's not easy to let go of
someone you loved. My Dad passed-away because of cancer. He was my
best friend and my life. It was that I feel so empty because, he was
the reason why I strive hard to be a good daughter because he deserved
to be honored by my love and respect. I wanna thank you for sharing
this things. I feel enlightened."
"Great effort and a
very inspiring and artistically apt form…. in times of this troubled
world where love is so lacking and where impoverished individuals and
the elderly are lowly regarded in society. Please continue the good
effort….do no be discouraged!!!! Cheers. Ivan from Singapore"
"This was the most
beautiful video I have ever seen and so real to life. Sometimes people
forget or don't even think that someday they also will be old. I think
this video could be taken in so many different ways but it was taken
to me just remember to respect others wishes and each other. Sally
Coole"
"It is amazingly
wonderful and devine. Kindly share more with us"
"There are no words
for how amazing and powerful this is. The person(s) responsible for
this need a huge hug and ALL of God's blessings."
June 27, 2006
"This was beautiful
and eye-opening. I am sending it to my children and to all my friends
who are parents. I hope my children will be as moved by this as I was.
Thank you!"
"Now that I am past
65 I relate. It brought tears to my eyes, since I was sent this by my
daughter-in-law... assuring me she would be there for me and my bride
of 35 years when the time comes."
"I was very touched
by the slideshow and music. I am an Administrator for a nursing home
and feel that we often forget why we do what we do. Thank you in
advance for any info you can give to me."
"I have viewed this
clip and cry each time I see it. My mom is experiencing memory loss
and I sometimes am not very patient with her but after watching this I
will try harder not to be impatient with her. I love her very much and
she has done so much for me in my life, I will be there for her in her
old age. I don't believe this is a propaganda for Euthanasia, I think
it just says let me grow old and die with dignity!"
"This was not only
beautiful and powerful but it sent a message that we needed to hear be
it either a positive or negative one. As a former nurse who served
elderly in the nursing home this was the message that I believe they
all wanted not only their children to hear but also we their
caretakers. I do not see this as a message to starve us or to kill us
in our old age but just as it really says.... let us go with dignity
and yes, there are those who fear death and parents and children who
are at odds and may have been for years. Ruth Phares, Peoria, AZ"
"This was absolutely
beautiful and was so touching as I remembered my own parents and the
wonderful gift that I was able to give them as they began their
journey to meet the Lord as a former nurse to the elderly this was so
remindful to me of the joy I had to share my 'youth' with them
as I served them as their nurse! The memories of those times are
something I will treasure for years to come. Thank you for sharing
this with the rest of the world and may it help to remind the children
of our elders what our parents did for us. Even the worse of parents
still deserve the kindness of our hearts."
"This is truly the
most moving and inspiring slideshow and writing I have ever viewed. My
husband and I both took care of our parents, my mother passed away in
2000 at age of 92, and was living with me at the time. She expressed
to me the desire to go ahead and leave here cause she thought she was
a burden to me. I always assured her she wasn't and that I wanted her
with me rather than anywhere else. My mother-in-law lived between us
and her daughter's home. We shared the caring for her and she passed
on in March of 2005. I am so proud I had the honor and privilege of
caring for my mother. This brought us to tears but it is oh so true.
Thanks for sharing. Faye and Jimmy"
"Beautifully done! As
seen in your feedback section, your video is generating lots of
comments and discussion and that's great, considering our unique
differences. Yet viewing it as a whole, the message of *acting out of
compassion* for our aging parents seems to be at the heart of it. And
I thank you for sharing your message in this most moving way."
"It comes at such a
poignant time in my life and my mom's. Just today, I accompanied her
to the geriatric psychiatrist, who informed us that she has the
beginnings of dementia, or possibly Alzheimer's. I have four
young children of my own, and have been impatient and abrupt with her,
and now I realize that this is the beginning of a new phase of both of
our lives. Your slideshow brought home the message to me that I must
be there for Mom, even when it might be inconvenient -- just as I am
for my own children. She was always there for me, and now it is my
turn. Thank you so much for helping me realize how I need to slow down
and enjoy her before it is too late. Frances Stelken, St. Louis, MO"
"Thank you. I needed
this so very much and have struggled with my parent's advancing age
(86) and failing mental and physical health and my frustration and
inability to 'fix' anything. This comforts me."
"This is a very
touching mail. I remember my deceased parents whom I have not seen for
a long time until they both dead. And I did not even go home to see
them dead. I left the country 2 years after I graduated from college.
And have been living in the US for some 30 years now. I feel the pain
a parents feel when their children are gone. I pray that my kids will
always be there for me when my time comes.. A Sim 06/06"
"I am 75 yrs old and
have always missed my parents since they passed on. I can only hope
that my children will feel the same. Your show has given me a time to
reflect. Thanks.:
"Thanks for such a
somber reminder of our needed love and patience. My father is 94 and
my Mom is 86. Both have congestive heart failure and chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease. Both are on oxygen and yesterday my Mom
went thru cancer surgery. It could not have been received at a more
needed time. Makes me shameful and given me a good scolding as well as
cry. I am filing this to send to my children someday!"
"This is such a
BEAUTIFUL email. Make you cry. I sent it to my daughter and she also
thought it was a joyful email. Thanks"
"I am in the Health
Care Industry and felt the phrase, 'If ever we do not want to eat,
do not force us. We know well when we need to and when not to.',
could be a little misleading in that, it is a true statement for
someone who is alert and oriented. On the other hand if someone is
confused and has dementia then they may not know when to eat and our
experience is not to 'force' them but rather encourage them.
"Thank you so much
for such an inspiration. I just recently lost my Mother in Law who had
been bed ridden for over 8 months. We cared for her and spent so much
time away from our 6 children that it took a great toll on my husband
and I. After reading this, I thank God that we had that time and that
opportunity. She was a strong and wonderful woman that taught me so
much about life."
"I could not have
said it better myself. Our children (even teenagers) don't realize how
special life is and not to take things like family for granted. I pray
about it all the time. Sincerely, Jill Dill"
"This is the most
touching and heartwarming song I have ever heard. I play this song
over and over again. When I first heard this song I cried like a baby.
I sent the link to my father with a letter stating 'Thank You so
much for what you have given me while I was growing up and for the
unconditional love over the years.' It even made my dad cry (which
he never does). The next day he called me and said thank you for
sending me that link to the song. This song was written with such grace
and dignity that words can not even begin to describe it. Sincerely,
Debi B."
"I cannot think of a
better way to express how we all should be treated in the last part of
our lives. I will pass this on to every person I know in hopes that
they too will see people as they should be seen. Thank you so much for
this presentation. I hope all is inspired by this."
"This was one of the
nicest tributes from parents to their children that I have ever seen.
Dwayne Hutson, Wasco, CA"
"I can honestly say,
I needed a kleenex to dry my eyes. How very loving and touching this
whole site is. How sad that some see it, and do not see the message
for what it is, but try to read their own selfish, self-centered
problems into it. I have read some say that it's not for everyone.
That is why everyone has a choice. If you don't like the site, go
elsewhere, simple. Some say that it is a weak attempt at something or
other that is negative. How sad to have a heart so filled with
resentment and anger that you find no beauty in the love of others,
and the warmth of caring for our parents. I only wish mine were alive,
for just one minute more so I could tell them I care, only one minute
more. How sad to not know real unselfish, unconditional love for
others, as God has for us."
"I believe this is a
very powerful slide show. It is beautifully put together. I think it
is has a great statement regarding the elderly people. I don't feel
this has anything to do with do this for me because I did this for
you. It is merely stating to be patient with me for I am still your
mom or dad. I have just slowed down, lost some things along the way
and need you to be understanding as I was with you. Don't harden your
heart towards me and don't abandon me. I still love you and wish it
were me taking care of you, not vise versa. But, someday I may need
you like you needed me."
"What a wonderful
e-mail that truly brings life into focus. Life itself is but a
fleeting moment and then our loved ones are gone. But, our memories of
the wonderful times we shared last until we, too, must pass this
earthly life and leave our loved ones to be with our Father in Heaven.
Then we can be together again and, once again, share our love in an
even deeper manner than was possible here on earth. So, our life here
on earth is but a brief time to prepare for that wonderful time when
we are reunited in that loving place, called Heaven. JF"
"Beautiful -- I loved
the song - pictures and all the words written.. I have lost both
parents so the words brought lots of tears for my loss as well as
beautiful memories as well as sad ones. Shirley Verrill"
"Thank you, it did
make me cry, and I will try and help others older persons, My parents
are gone, so I will pass it on. VI Miller"
"This was the most
touching video I have seen in a long time. I am a senior citizen, 58,
and I have had problems that make me seem like I am 78. My health has
never been good, but it is going down pretty fast. I can really relate
to this."
"I was really touched
by your web site. A friend of mine sent it to me and I thank God that
she did it was so beautiful. Thank You, for the encouraging things you
wrote."
"This is so
beautiful. It made me cry. I am now getting close to the age that some
of these things could happen. It happened already to my late husband.
Its sad but we have more yesterdays than we do tomorrows. Life is a
journey and this is just part of it. Thank you for reminding everyone
how important life is."
"I have had so much
more hands on contact with my kids than their father and it was that
way in all the households I knew of -- I felt so left out because dad
was pictured in every scene of this very moving video."
"I had no problem
with I just wanted to thank you for what you did. It was a very good
thing."
"So cool!! It's
touching my heart deeply. You know, we always need this kind of things
to remind ourselves sometimes. To remember how much our parents gave
us and paid for us. God says: Love others. But most of people forgot
that the parents was included."
"This had tears
coming down my face. I work in a nursing home I wish this could be
shown to every family member and workers. My Mom and Dad had
Alzheimer's and now my brother and one of my sisters have it .They are
still young so watching this it tears at my heart. I know that a lot
of people should be understanding to the older people but they just
look at them like no care in the world."
"Beautifully done;
deeply emotional - what an important message to send to our children."
"This is really
simple and touching... something that happens everyday and people do
not cherish this special ties with their parents. I am really touched
and will tell my friends about this. I hope this will continue to
change the lives of more people as I am sure it had already done so
for many till now :) -hUi jUn-"
"I was moved deeply.
I watched it again and again. Thank you very much!"
"My husband and I
took care of my mother and father when they were aged and in ill
health. They were loved and cared for with compassion. At times it was
difficult to be the caregivers when both my husband and myself had
jobs to go to every day. We are not religious but one doesn't have to
be in order to appreciate the words and sentiments and the beautiful
music in the Parents' Wish. Love and respect are easily returned if
they were freely given. CB and JB"
"I felt a certain
sadness when I read about what I know my Mother is experiencing now,
and what I am entering into. I pray that my children will have as much
compassion and understanding for me and my husband when we reach that
point as we had for them when they were little ones. We are all in a
life cycle, crawling, walking, leading, and then following. With God's
grace, we will have families that love us as we are."

"This should be part
of orientation in jobs that are for assisted living and nursing homes.
It is awesome."
"Now that I able to
see through my tears....Thank you for the ever so special reminder of
how fragile our parents have become. Tender, patience and caring need
to be remembered foremost. Barbara, California"
"I loved it very
much, and will definitely forward it on to many of my friends. I
especially am a HUGE fan of Josh Groban, (a totally hooked Grobanite!).
I appreciate the fact that your link goes right to his website. Thank
you for using his music to express this sentiment the best. It was
truly beautiful and I must remember these words. Meri Lynne Magli"
"My mother is in the
last stages of Alzheimer's disease. We like to had lost her last week
and she pulled out of it. Still wondering why this video was sent to
me at a time like this in my life. Maybe it's trying to get me better
prepared, who knows but thanks to whom ever I owe."
"My 2 sisters and I
are caring for our 91 year old mother. Your video has helped us to
better understand her. And for that we are grateful."
"Wow!!! Awesome!!!
Beautifully done!! There is no way to describe the emotional impact it
had on me! I am 64 and both my parents are deceased. It gave me a
whole new light as to how they must have felt. It really made me stop
and think back, and made me even more thankful for the life they gave
me. I sent it on to my children in the hopes that when the time comes
they will have patience and understanding as I progress into old age.
And thank you, Josh Groban, for such a marvelous song with words that
touch the heart! Joanie Kirby, Aurora, Kentucky"
"Thank you for
sharing this beautiful Flash Movie. I received Parents' Wish via email
today. It really touched me so much that tears poured down my face. It
is a very Inspirational and terrific show, and the lovely music,
'You Raised Me Up' was suited for the presentation of this lovely
show. God Bless you and all who helped to produce this wonderful show.
Margaret, Antigua, West Indies."
"After having been
the prime care giver to both my wonderful parents, this says it all.
It has touched my heart and soul, as I lived those days with Mom and
Dad. Thank you and God Bless!"
"Wow! I am happy that
somebody put this site together! See, I lost my 'best friend',
my father in a fire just going on 3 weeks ago now. He was a great man
to me! Dad lived a god life! Now i am struggling with the fact
that it happened so suddenly! My mother is still in the hospital and
having horrible pain! I love my mother very much and I know without
the words that she loves all of her children! Thank you and I will
definitely forward this to my friends and hopefully they will pass on
this great tribute to the elderly. You have sang and written what I
have felt about the elderly my whole life!! Lisa, OH"
"May God richly bless
you in your endeavors for such a timely message that all of we as
parents wanted to say but couldn't. Only the Lord could have brought
this together with your help for 'such a time as this'. We are
praying for His financial blessings for you and this project in Jesus
name. Amen and amen."
"I was so touched by
your slide show. This made me realize the importance of parents in our
lives... why we should never take them for granted.... even at their
twilight years."
"Just wanted to say
that this is beautiful. I lost my father when I was 37 and my mother 5
yrs ago. Not a day goes by I don't miss them. I was an only child and
had the most wonderful parents. My mother had Alzheimer's and just
watching this reminded me so much of her. Thank You"
"That was a
beautiful! My mom recently passed away, me and my sister were taking
care of her and we would get upset when she would forget things or she
would have trouble doing things she never had trouble doing but just a
few days before she passed did we come to learn how sick she really
was but we didn't want to believe that our mom needed us to take care
of her. Just always remember when they say they need help they really
do, they don't want to ask but they have no choice its just as hard
for them as it is for us."
"I am the mother of
two ANGEL DAUGHTERS. I am blessed by their love and devotion. I would
have to say I don't need to pass this beautiful story to them. I think
about other families who really need to send it on to their kids.
Thanks for sharing. Anita Jackson"
"It is so moving and
true. My mother lives with me. Believe me, it does require much
patience. In a month and a half from now she will be 101 years of age.
She is till going good! Still enjoys going out."
"This was so true and
beautiful. My Mom and Aunt (her sister) just died 80 and 85 -- I so
understand this was their story!"
"This was the most
moving piece of work I have ever seen. Thank you so very, very much."
"My dear friend sent
me this. I cried all the way through it. I lost my Father to
Alzheimer's in March 2005 and my Mother to cancer in Sept 2005 and
this really hit home to me. It is absolutely beautiful. Thank you so
much. EH in Arizona"
"I wanted to tell you
how wonderful the site is. My father just passed away on Friday, after
a long term of suffering. Many heart operations, memory loss,
confusion and most of the pain was from not being able to do for
himself. Going from independent to dependent; was the frustration my
father went through. It was one of the hardest things that could ever
happen to a person. Take good care of your parent, or grandparent;
they are a precious jewel, that will be missed so deeply. Sincerely,
Esther Smith"
"This was one of the
most beautiful and truthful explanations of life I have ever read.
Thank you for sharing this amazing story with me. Sincerely, Evelyn
Waugh."
"Thank you so much
for such a wonderful site - it is truly beautiful and so truthful.
Many of us in our 30's and 40's view our ageing parents as burdens and
forget that we were once that way to them, only they didn't treat us
that way. I will happily forward your website to everyone I know. It
teaches valuable lessons about compassion and understanding that I
think we ALL need to hear."
"By the time the song
was over, the tears started to fall. I am forwarding this on to my
children and I wish it had been around before my parents passed on.
Thank you - Naomi Comeau"
"This is one of the
most beautiful movies I have ever seen! It brought back many memories
of my dear mother, and I am sending it to my siblings and my children.
Thank you so much for saying so beautifully what I have wanted to say
for a long time. Becky, Sebastian, FL "
"This has really
touched my heart – and I am sure it has touched other hearts"
"This is a really
great video and music, touched me deeply. Thanks"
"This brought home to
me all the loving thoughts I ever had about my parents, and how I hope
my own children will see this and absorb the message into their
hearts, and be patient with me when I am going through those
experiences in later years. I cried right out loud as I viewed it and
I thought of my precious husband who just died in November. Jan in
Mason City, Iowa"
"I want to thank you
for this touching slide show. I'm 15 years old and I love it. I almost
cried. Its hard for a teenager like me to cry. I love the song and my
mom showed me this when she got the email from a friend about it and I
watched it then. I want to send it to all my friends. It touched me in
an unreachable place, thank you."
"I sit here with
tears, and goose bumps. This is perhaps the most beautiful
presentation piece I've viewed on the web. I'm 61 years old, and moved
5 years ago to take care of my dad (now 92) after my mother passed. I
can relate to and cherish every frame and phrase presented."
"Very beautiful, it
touched my heart. My Mom has Alzheimer's and I know this is what she
would like to say to me. I will pass this on to my two daughters. Mary
Olivierre, Dublin, Ireland."
"This is incredible.
Best I have seen. We raised 3 children and are raising our two
grandchildren. This is beautiful. Thank you very much."
"I was really touched
by your Parents' Wish slideshow and I admit that I needed a tissue or
two during it."
"This is very
outstanding and touching. It bought tears to my eyes. Thank you, Thank
you. It is the most beautiful mail I have ever read."
"That one about
parents wish made me cry.. thank you for reminding me how special life
is"
"It is a parents
responsibility to take care of their children and not throw up in
their face that 'If it wasn't for me YOU would have died or not
been here!' I love my parents but they don't feel sorry for
themselves and try to manipulate to get the attention and sympathy.
Older people many times cannot help themselves and lose their
faculties. As kids we are patient and if we left them to their own
pity parties they would die---plain and simple."
"This was absolutely
beautiful. Thank you for reminding all of us 'children' what we
owe to our parents. Carolyn"
"Awesome and
true......didn't care for the music but the message came through loud
and clear!"
"I really enjoyed
your movie. Thanks so much. You made me feel a lot better. My dad
passed away 2 years ago and I needed something like your movie. Thanks
so much. Joseph Wilson"
"Watching this
slideshow has been an emotional experience. It has made me happy to
know so many people share the extraordinary love I have for my parents
and my children. You have made me reflect...you have touched my
heart...thank you."
"I was so moved by
Parents' Wish. I just recently had to move my parents into an
apartment to down size them from their home of 24 years. I thank them
everyday for raising me the way they did and I now understand the roll
reversal we all face as our parents age. This is a beautiful and
moving production, so to everyone who worked on this piece, thank you!
Mary Cardini, Harahan, LA"
"Thank you so very
much for this inspirational video. It brought feelings to the surface
for the balance with my mother; of age, 83. I truly thank you from the
bottom of my heart."
"I was so happy that
a friend of mine thought of me when sending this. My mother is still
with us, at the age of 83. I will look at her with much more respect,
after viewing this special video. I thank you, also for letting us all
see age in a different and enlightening way. Joyce"
"God Bless You!!!!
You have said what most of us feel but do not know how to express it!"
"I am 64 years old
and just lost my dear sweet mother 10 days ago. This just moved me and
expressed what I am feeling. I can only hope I provided all of these
beautiful sentiments and thoughts to my mom in her final months and
days. Beautiful! Karin Gibb, New Cumberland, PA"
"A nice piece. Sad
but good. Not sad at what my kids will do when I am real old. Already
65 but sad if I fulfilled my duties as a child towards my parents who
passed away. God bless you. You proved internet can be put to noble
issues also. Shahbaz Asharf, Montreal, Canada"
"This is the most
wonderful and meaningful e-mail I have ever seen. I am almost 70 and
my precious husband is almost 76. He has 4 incurable diseases and I
know that he will not be with me forever. We have been married 52
years. I sent this to all of our 4 kids. I hope they take it to heart.
I cried all the way thru it. Ginny W."
"This was the most
touching, 'real' site I've seen. The tears rolled down my
cheeks as I related to every line I read. I saw myself as well as my
dear parents. I will always remember sitting by my dying mother's
bedside as she whispered, 'I love you very much and don't ever
forget it'. Thank you that I can pass this on to my children and
hope they see what I saw and remember it for that one day in the not
to distant future."
"That was the most
awesome video I think I have ever seen yet, and I have seen a lot of
beautiful videos. Thank you for your very inspiring work of art.
Juanita, Ozark, MO"
"I cannot stop
sobbing. I realize how much I love my mother who is going to be 81
years old in July. She is starting to forget a lot of things and it
makes me so sad. This video was beautiful and I can't wait to send it
on to my six brothers and sisters and my daughter. It also is
frightening that I too will be in this state some day and I hope my
daughter will care for me when that time comes. Thank you for this
wonderfully inspiring piece."
