PARENTS' WISH NEWS

  • May 27, 2010.  We apologize for our lack of time in maintaining this website.  We have all your feedbacks from November 29, 2009 saved in our Inbox and we will eventually post them as soon as we find some spare time.  It will be a while before we can put the slideshow back online as we just don't have the time right now to re-do the slideshow.  We are really touched by your daily feedbacks and are deeply saddened that we are unable to put the slideshow back online at this time.

  • September 1, 2009. We are deeply touched by the constant feedbacks we are getting from our viewers wishing to see the slideshow back online. That give us the inspiration and motivation to continue maintaining this not-for-profit website despite constant litigation threats from people/companies who want to profit from the slideshow.  Unfortunately, the hunt for non-copyrighted pictures is quite a slow process because of the limited amount of time we have in managing this website. Please be patient. We will definitely put this slideshow back online.

  • August 2, 2009. The Slideshow was taken offline due to copyright claim by Getty Images on the pictures that were used in the slideshow which were taken from the original powerpoint presentation entitled Tribute to Dad from an anonymous source.

  • May 26, 2009.  The Arizona mirror sites courtesy of Mike's Maze was discontinued.

  • August 18, 2008. Due to the difficulties that we are experiencing in obtaining the necessary copyright permission for the background music, we regret to say that we are unable to proceed with the production of the CD/DVD version at this time.

  • June 18, 2008. The South Africa mirror site is temporarily offline. The owner is changing web server. We will reactivate it soon.

  • April 8, 2008.  We have added a new mirror site in Europe courtesy of  www.sandeepraval.com.

  • January 24, 2008. To date, we have received about 4,000 requests for the CD/DVD version of the slideshow.  Unfortunately, we are still unable to obtain the necessary copyright permissions for the use of the background music in the CD/DVD version. Please be patient. We are currently looking at some alternatives and we will definitely notify you by email if and when we are able to go to production.

  • December 24, 2007. Songhe Fragrant Rice in Singapore placed an advertisement in today's edition of the Strait Times with the wordings of the Parents' Wish slideshow. Click here to view the advertisement.

  • November 12, 2007.  Thanks to your generosity (especially to Narendra Lakshminarasimha), I now have sufficient operating funds to keep this website online for the next two years.  As promised, I will now stop receiving your donations.

  • September 29, 2007. Feedbacks publication delay is now down to 1-2 days.

  • September 10, 2007. There is at the moment about ten days delay in the publication of the Feedbacks. Thank you for your patience.  We are on a standstill in our quest for obtaining the necessary copyright permissions for the CD/DVD version as we can't seem to get the right person. We still do not have a timeframe as to when we can make the CD/DVD version available.

  • July 9, 2007. While the great majority of feedbacks we receive on this slideshow are positive, once in a while we receive negative comments from people who think that they might be sending their children on a guilt-trip if they see this slideshow. I've added item 20 in the FAQ to address this issue.

  • July 8, 2007.  We have finally caught up on the posting of your feedbacks.  Your feedbacks will now appear the following day.

  • June 30, 2007.  The Webmaster is now accepting voluntary donation to help keep this slideshow FREE for online viewing. This request will remain until I have gathered enough funds to keep this website running for the next two years.

  • June 29, 2007. Delay in feedback publication is now down to about 10 days. Thank you for your patience.

  • May 24, 2007. There is about a 20 days delay in the publication of feedbacks to the slideshow. No positive news yet on our quest for the CD/DVD copyright permission on Josh Groban's music.  Thank you for your patience.

  • April 11, 2007.  The link to the mirror site in Massachusetts was removed because the anonymous viewer who so kindly offered to act as a mirror site at a time when we were in desperate need for one has moved his web services to another provider.

  • April 8, 2007. We have added our sixth mirror site based in Sacramento, California courtesy of www.InspirationLine.com

  • December 27, 2006. Due to some personal matters that the webmaster has to attend to, we are unable to post and reply to your feedbacks temporarily.  Please be patient. We will post them and reply to your queries as soon as we can.

  • July 29, 2006.  The Single Parent version of the slide show (as requested by many of our viewers) is now available. Click here for Father's WishClick here for Mother's Wish.  I would like to thank my volunteer FLASH artist (Rolando Celestino Malinis) for taking time out from his busy schedule to get these versions out.  The photos, however, are the same for all versions as we are still trying to gather the appropriate photos to accompany the Single Parent versions. Please bear with us.

  • July 27, 2006.  Our mirror site in Long Island, New York could not handle the bandwidth consumption of the slideshow so we had to take it offline.

  • July 22, 2006.  We received quite a few feedbacks from our viewers that they were unable to view the texts of the slideshow from our main site because of the July 17 update we did.  We restored the original format back. If you will still have problems viewing the slideshow from our main site, please let us know.

  • July 17, 2006. The flash movie file in the main site has been updated using a newer FLASH version 8.  If you will have difficulties playing the movie from the main site, please let us know so we can revert to the old version. We will keep the old version in our mirror sites until we have tested this new version fully in the main site.

  • July 17, 2006. We added a new mirror site based  in Long Island, New York.

  • July 12, 2006. Our volunteer Flash designer found some spare time last night to make the following changes in the slideshow: modified the sound of the ocean at the end of the slideshow (courtesy of one of our anonymous viewer; changed the title of the slideshow from PARENT'S WISH to PARENTS' WISH;  modified some of the wordings of the slideshow based on our viewers' suggestions (THANKS, viewers!). Some of the more popular suggestions (eg, a separate version for single parents and ethnic/gender representation) can not be implemented at this time as they require more time to implement.

  • July 1, 2006.  We are switching to our new web server today. Viewers to the website may experience some difficulties connecting to this site for the next 2-3 days.

  • June 25, 2006.  An individual who prefer to remain Anonymous offered his server in Massachusetts as our second mirror site.

  • June 24, 2006We opened a new web hosting account with a 1,500Gb monthly transfer limit. This will serve as our main server and the slideshow is now available for viewing on this new server. We will be adding another mirror site shortly.

  • June 23, 2006.  You may now view the slideshow from an alternative viewing site based in Singapore (courtesy of Adrian Foo). THANK YOU SO MUCH, ADRIAN!  He is dedicating this mirror site to his parents.

  • June 22, 2006. Adrian Foo from Singapore has offered to host the movie file temporarily from his web server for free.  Our FLASH artist is making changes on the FLASH movie file to allow the links to work from his Singapore based server.

  • June 21, 2006.  Our account has reached 900Gb bandwidth consumption for the month of June (with still 9 more days to go) and this is already over our monthly 750Gb limit. With this site now averaging about  60Gb transfer per day, this will cost us an additional $125 per day on top of our monthly fixed hosting fee. Since we can not afford to pay this additional charge, we have to temporarily suspend the viewing of the FLASH movie and redirect all HTML requests to our other site at paete.org.

  • June 14, 2006. Our web hosting account was upgraded to allow for a 750Gb monthly transfer limit in order to accommodate the growing number of visitors to the site.

  • June 13, 2006. We are still working out copyright issues in the publication of the CD version of the slideshow. Production has not began yet.

  • May 12, 2006.  We opened a web hosting account for parentswish.com with a 400Gb monthly transfer limit.

  • April 28, 2006. The domain parentswish.com was registered in order not to burden the load of paete.org when the slideshow comes back online.

  • April 17, 2006.  Rolando Celestino Malinis offered to convert the movie file into a FLASH format for free in order to reduce the movie size and the load on the web server.

  • March 19, 2006. The web host of paete.org suspended the account because the  slideshow was averaging 35,000 views (unique visits) a day and was putting too much load on their web server.

  • August 10, 2005. A modified version of the Tribute to Dad slideshow in Windows Media format and with Josh Groban's 'You Raise Me Up' as background music was published at paete.org  with the new title 'Parent's Wish'.
